Biorhythms for Kansas at Carolina, 7 pm tip.

I saw this elsewhere and hadn't realized it before...

We got 16 Offensive Rebounds in the game. Kansas only got 20 Defensive Rebounds.

That means we got 44.4% of our own misses during the game. Dang.

The sense of things in Coach Davis' post game was that he had not shared any Kansas/UNC history with the team.

But the sense of things from players...Wilson perhaps most important of all as he alluded to in his own post game...is that they have done some homework on such things.

I now that there are posters here that condemn our history but I see it as a great advantage...something that we have that many other schools do not have. Of course Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, even dook, also have history to compare. Other schools have lesser or shorter stories than us.

Love it when young folks search for those outside sources...
Imo it’s very important for the current players to know the history and at least try to internalize some of what it means, even if they’re younger and maybe didn’t grow up living and dying by UNC basketball.

I remember last season seeing something about UK’s new coach sitting the team down and talking to them about their history with Dook ahead of that matchup and making them watch some of those games from back in the day. The players already know that a rivalry or a blue blood vs. blue blood type of game is a big deal, but I think knowing the “why” can definitely bring more out of them.

Offensive rebounding kept us in striking distance in the first half — 10 offensive boards mitigated as many turnovers (and other flaws). It meant we had about the same number of shot attempts in the first half as KU despite making those 10 turnovers and giving them 17 easy points of TO.

When we buttoned up our own turnovers, we kept up offensive rebounding and their easy buckets dried up.

Absolutely...I remember a video I saw many years ago at Carolina Basketball School. It was one demonstrating what the coaches called "The Previs Stalk" and it was of 1968-71 (~) hard-nosed defensive specialist guard Steve Previs stealing the ball, diving on the floor, and otherwise making the unheralded plays. I've looked for it over the years to no avail. To know that is part of what is appreciated at Carolina is, I believe, important among the legacies of the players (too many to name), Coaches Smith, Guthridge, Williams, and even McGuire or go way back to Hall of Famer Carnavale...

I see Caleb Wilson and others doing the Previs Stalk...

loved how we competed but im still only cautiously optimistic..... not sure if this ku team is any better than their team last yr

If absolutely nothing else, at the very least last night bought us some much-needed breathing room when we play teams like Michigan State and Kentucky. It won’t feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders.

I hope for UNC’s sake that KU goes on to have a strong season.

They are in an interesting spot as a program though. The previous 2 seasons have been pretty lackluster by their standards. If they go through something like that again this year I wonder if the grumblings about Bill Self losing his fastball get louder.

The Kansas roster isn't super intriguing after Peterson

Bidunga is good but limited offensively and Council can't shoot

They are banking on Rosario improving and Tiller shooting it like he did yesterday

Self I imagine is about 50-50 on retiring after this season...he is 63 and had some medical issues this past summer.

Tre White was ok, chipping in 10 pts and Jackson didn’t seem to be chump change - to compliment Peterson, Council, Bidunga, Tiller, Rosario.

That seems to be a solid 7. Self should be able to cobble together some wins and make the tournament with that bunch.
