Our problem has been that we’ve had some highly-regarded guys come through CH who’ve “undeveloped”, so to speak, and didn’t exit Carolina to a high draft pick in the pros.

Add in Roy’s preference for players with high talent but not necessarily a great NBA future and we developed a reputation for not getting players to the NBA well.

True, even though coming to UNC had nothing to do with them not living up to expectations it becomes a negative recruiting tool.

dook and UK have a bunch of those guys too but when you bring it 5-6 at a time much better chance of getting one or two to hit and that's all you need.

Wilson’s actually a pretty solid free throw shooter. He wasn’t yesterday, however, and missing the front ends of one-and-ones hurt. But he one game this season where he went 10-10 from the line. He was 73% going into yesterday’s game and yesterday dropped it down to 71%.

ETA: Sorry, I just realized a lot of people addressed this before my post.

Hope it's just a temporary thing but the game before was a bit shaky at line as well, I believe.

He was 7-10 in the last game, but he was only 7-13 in the game before that vs. USC Upstate. He was 6-6 in the game before that (three games ago).
 
The Stevenson/Bogavac comparison is an interesting one.

Bogavac is the second leading assist man on the team (though that will change with Trimble playing perhaps) and his turnovers are low in that ratio. Stevenson is not really a contributor there.

Stevenson is the better rebounder as you might imagine and also brings blocks and near-blocks and an overall defensive presence. He is also far more versatile position-wise than anyone on the team including Bogavac.

Both are not shooting particularly well though Bogavac has the upper-hand there.

Any uptick from Stevenson, Bogavac, Powell, or Dixon in offensive output would make this team far more dangerous. Dixon is really the offensive productivity leader there when it comes to shooting. Throw in Evans , and extracting Dixon, and you have four guys dramatically underperforming as shooters.
 
Only Jarin and Caleb are long enough and athletic enough to make that steal on OSU’s second to last possession. That whole trap was a thing of beauty.

Hubert gets a lot of credit for getting the team to buy in defensively. The mystery is why he couldn’t do it during his bad years.

Bacot eventually became a strong defender but wasn’t for much of his career

I don’t think last year was too much of a mystery

This team would have been a ton of fun with a sophomore Drake Powell
 
I was just looking ahead at our schedule, and obviously the game at SMU won’t be easy, but the way the schedule sets up, we should have a really strong chance of starting undefeated in ACC play going into a big late January game at Virginia in Charlottesville. We should have a really strong chance of going into that game potentially 18-1.

Some of the teams this season with higher offensive ratings than UNC is alarming

I don’t think the shooting can remain this bad though

Good shooters and poor shooters alike are underperforming
