Biorhythms for UNC @Cal: 4 pm Start Time

Sorry I didn't arrange to meet you at the game - was flying by the seat of my pants today (and frankly for the last few weeks). It would have been cool to say hi.
You wouldn’t have been able to find me amongst the 60% Carolina fans at the game. We’ve outattended the home team at SMU, Stanford and Berkeley - for all the good it did us.

It hasn't come to this, though.

Carolina has played poor defense for 4 games in a row, and that is concerning, but it isn't fatal, or final. 14-4 with 13 regular season games to go.
I certainly hope that he can turn it around and save his job, but at this point it just doesn't seem realistic, imo. His demeanor at his press conference today was pretty telling. By this point I think to keep his job he'll need a Final Four run, and I just don't see that happening, although stranger things have certainly happened.

It's not just the past four games. Why can't you see this? It's the overall state of the program and the end results for the majority of seasons under Hubert. We have seen this movie before.

The data points are trending in a concerning pattern.
Agreed.
Is Carolina the team that started 13-1 and played really good defense, or is Carolina the team that has played terrible defense and lost 3 of 4?
I think they can be the former, but we'll find out as the rest of the season unfolds.

We may be at that point a month from now, but I think that's currently premature. Just my opinion and my opinion doesn't matter
My guess is there’s some degree of planning and communication going on when you have a coach in a make or break type of season.

From Greg:

- Per KenPom, UNC now ranks 18th in ACC play in eFG% defense (61.2) and 3FG% defense (44.9), 17th in defensive efficiency and 13th in 2FG% defense (54.7). Remember that UNC led the nation in 2FG% defense about a month ago.

- UNC ranks 248th nationally in eFG% defense (57.8) vs. top 100 opponents. For reference, last year's Tar Heel team ranked 79th in eFG% defense (51.3) vs. top 100 opponents.

- ACC teams are shooting 3-pointers 51.3% of the time vs. UNC, which is the highest % in the conference, and assisting on 58.9% of their baskets (15th highest).

- Entering Saturday’s game, UNC’s opponents had tied the school record for most three-pointers made in two consecutive games (30) and set records for the most in three (44) and four consecutive games (56). Two of those were tied in Berkeley and a new record was set – 58 3-pointers over four games - as UNC's ACC opponents are averaging 14 made 3-pointers per game.

- Also entering Saturday's game, Cal was averaging 6.8 3-pointers per game in ACC play while shooting 26.8%. The Bears were 14-of-26 (53.8%) vs UNC after shooting 14-of-62 (22.6%) in their previous three ACC games.
