Maybe they should practice more than one defense and at least try it a couple of times to see if it works better.

I didn't blame the loss on Hubert. They probably would have lost anyway. But a coach should prepare the team to play more than one defense if necessary.

Maybe if the guy who would be manning the center of that defense wasn't always lost it might be an option.

You seem to think they have unlimited practice time. It's crazy how many different things you want the staff to be working on. We run no offense, we don't play zone, we don't call plays, we call too many plays, we are bad at man, we need to press more, etc.

There is no universe in which we are going to be good defensively with Zayden High getting this much run. If we try to play zone with a center who doesn't know where to be, how is that going to work?

I'm going to have to put you on ignore, I think, because your posts on game threads or really anything basketball related are depressing and lame.

Do you know if Luka has ever played zone in his life? In Europe, I don't think anyone plays much zone at any level, at least not the same types of zone we would play here. So that would also mean Henri would be very inexperienced at zone.

Why would we practice a defense that we would almost never play, when there are so many other areas for work? It's not as simple as turning it on and running through some rotations for half an hour. It takes a lot of practice. and even then it's not necessarily effective.

If a center doesn't know where to be in a zone then he shouldn't be on the team. It's literally in the name of his position.

As fsr as offense goes, I have always said the exact same thing about what I dislike about the offense.

Yep. Losing 2 of your Top 3 players was never going to go well. Without those two, and with State desperate for a win after their last two losses and playing at home, this loss is no surprise at all, not even the margin to some extent. Throw in that Wade was always going to have State fired up to play us and this was likely going to be ugly without our two leading scorers and team leaders.

Having said that, if we don't get Caleb and Henri back relatively soon our season is likely going south in a big way.

Do you really think that's how long they practice each time? Part of the job of the coach is to teach and to be prepared for different situations based on the opponent and have a gameplan for that opponent. You can't just do the same thing against every opponent and expect it to work all the time.
