And with this team, if they aren't hitting 3s they have the players in Wilson, Veesaar and Stevensen to pound the ball inside and get to the basket or get fouls and get to the free throw line. Of course you need to be able to get them the ball. Wilson and Veesaar do a great job of getting the ball to each other for shots at the rim, so it doesn't have to all be on Evans to get them the ball. I would like to see them pound the ball inside and drive to the basket every time on offense. They had been doing a better job of moving the ball before the MSU game. That was probably the worst they looked so far in moving the ball and getting good shots.

Of course, all of that is really mute when the bench comes in. Wilson, Veesaar, Stevensen and Luka really don't have anyone to back them up. Maybe Dixon can be good enough to back up Evans, but so far neither one of them have provided much offense. When Trimble comes back I guess they could bring Stevensen off the bench, but the 5 best are going to be Wilson, Veesaar, Stevensen, Trimble and Luka. That would put Luka at point, though, and I'm not sure if he is fast enough to play point. It's a good team with those 5 and Evans, but it drops off a lot after those 6, and there are issues still at the point, making 3s, and the bench. I think Hubert is going to have to lean heavily on those 6 and really emphasize going inside, driving to the basket, and getting shots at the rim or going to the foul line if the team is going to be as successful as they can be.

If HD does have them playing inside out on offense then I will be happily surprised. That is not the way he has run his offense since becoming head coach. (Of course, they will need to start making outside shots to prevent opposing defenses from playing off and packing the paint.)

Regarding drop-off, it’s not a good sign that JB and High have not developed into even serviceable players by now.

Getting Trimble back would obviously be a huge boost. Even with him in the fold though I feel like this team is short by one good player somewhere in the rotation. Another competent scorer and/or distributor in the backcourt or even just a serviceable back up big man would do wonders. Brown and High simply don’t look like power conference players.

I’m holding out hope that Luka eventually breaks through and becomes the second fiddle to Wilson. In my head that’s the difference between this team being an actual contender or just a good but not great fringe top 25 team.

What about going a tad smaller for a couple of minutes to spell the bigs? If you have to sit Veesar, then play Jarin and Cdub at 4&5. Maybe put Bogie at 3 perhaps... he's 6'6"... it would be "small ball" to a degree I guess.

Same when Cdub needs a blow - Henri and Jarin stay in at 4&5; Henri and Cdub at 4&5 when Jarin sits...

I dont' know what's going to work, but I agree: We seem to struggle when High and/or Brown are in the game.

Jarin should definitely be the backup 4/5. There is plenty of size to make this work. Brown and High are just such negatives you can’t play them against any real teams.
eta: I think that’s the plan once trimble gets back and may have already been in the works if Jonathan Powell hadn’t been pretty bad to start the year
