Game really wasnt that close. Lack of a 5 puts us out of contention this year. Way too much pressure is being put on our guards. Im still smdh that HD struck out on every C in the portal.....couldve been a special yr.

Odd. I don't ever remember the season or the fate of the team being decided in November before.

Once again, I didn’t watch last night - but looking at the stats this AM tells the tale. We got whooped in every single phase of the game. Every single catagory. We even shot poorly from the line (only 63%) our worst performance from the stripe to date this season. Only caveat is that, from the field, we shot 44% to AU’s 43% but they made 3 more field goals while attempting 7 more than us, so that % means squat. But every other category or % they beat us badly enough to where the final score seems like it could have been worse.

I doubt I watch the entire replay of the game…. I may catch the highlights on YouTube… but I may not even watch that. Is there anything on the highlight reel worth viewing or am I better off not watching anything from last nights game?

On the bright side, our two losses have come to what are arguably the two very best teams in the country. Outside of Duke we are not going to play anyone in the ACC nearly as good as Kansas or Auburn. And outside of Duke, we are not going to play anyone in the ACC with truly elite post play.

It'll also be a lot different when we're more comfortable with each other. This is really deja vu because this post could have been made after every disappointing loss in November and December under Dean and Roy when we were playing multiple people in multiple combinations as if it were more important to develop the team than win all our games. How old fashioned.

Those stats are really surprising to me. I can’t believe our FG% was the same as theirs. It seemed like they hit a lot more of their shots than we did. Also surprised by the 3pt%. I cannot believe we shot at a higher % than they did. It seemed like they were draining their 3s left and right. Also shocking that we scored more points in the paint. It seemed like we struggled to score when we took it inside, and it seemed that their bigs manhandled our bigs on the other end of the court. And I’m surprised that we scored more fast break points considering how we seemed to be sloppy with the ball. The rebounding margin is also closer than I would have thought.

And 7 assists total is not good.

UNC Tar Heels:
Cadeau #3 P = 100, E = 20, I = 20, X = 60
Davis #4 P = 15, E = 95, I = 0, X = 10
Trimble #7 P = 80, E = 5, I = 0, X = 0, X = 40
Withers #24 P = 90, E = 100, I = 35, X = 60
Washington #13 P = 5, E = 25, I = 25, X = 15, X = 10
Tyson #5 P = 100, E = 5, I = 0, X = 50
Jackson #11 P = 95, E = 75, I = 45, X = 70
Powell #9 P = 100, E = 0, I = 0, X = 50
Lubin #22 P = 60, E = 25, I = 0, X = 30
Claude #0 P = 20, E = 30, I = 60, X = 40
Brown #2 P = 100, E = 100, I = 10, X = 55

Coach Davis Wisdom = 55

MSU Spartans
0 Jaxon Kohler P = 15, E = 0, I = 80, X = 45
8 Frankie Fidler P = 20, E = 5, I = 50, X = 35
10 Syzmon Zapala P = 60, E = 100, I = 0, X = 30
1 Jeremy Fears P = 85, E =0, I = 55, X = 70
3 Jaden Akins P =55, E = 0, I = 0, X = 25
55 Coen Carr P = 50, E = 60, I = 95, X = 70
34 Xavier Booker P = 60, E = 0, I = 0, X = 30
15 Carson Cooper P = 0, E = 95, I = 80, X = 40
11 Jase Richardson P = 20, E = 80, I = 20, X = 20
5 Tre Holloman P = 50, E = 40, I = 75, X = 60

Coach Izzo Wisdom = 10

Look-In: Tom Izzo plays two Portal ‘Gets’ (Fidler & Zapala). The rest are young men who chose MSU and have stuck with it. Not sure what that says and there are all sorts of ‘spins’ that could be applied. As for the game - at this point we’re - all of us - engaged in an endurance contest. The Spartans are led by Spartan Senior Jaden Akins (6-4, 13 ppg, 6 rpg) and #11 freshman bench man Jase Richardson (6-3, 11 ppg). Bigs are journeyman (Utah St/Longwood) Szymon Zapala (7-1) and Twin Towers Xavier Booker and Carson Cooper. Combined this trio averages 15 ppg and 11 rpg. Jeremy Fears is an Eagle-Eye Assists Guy (6 apg). Defense played ferociously is Izzo’s trademark.

Frontcourt: Washington’s ritmo woes continue but he’s rising. Lubin is strong. Brown looks the best by far though a zero Intel is worrisome. Claude appears to be in exile. Withers has the rhythms to stand out.

Wings: There is athleticism in Jackson and Powell. Tyson too.

Guards: R. J. Davis is still burning though running on empty with only an Emotion Arc to drive him. Cadeau has the physical as does Trimble.

Overall: This one is about Guts. No one has ever accused an Izzo team of lacking that. The Spartans look smart. Carolina has what it takes to win but figuring WHO can deliver at the end of this marathon is the challenge. Never bet against R.J. And look at the Young Wings. Lubin is tough.

The gamblers in Las Vegas say Carolina by 4.5. Ritmos - sigh - say closer. UNC by 3.

Thats a great observation smdh. Season was decided when HD failed to land us a center. You dont have to accept it or agree wth it.

Game went about how I expected it to. UNC had opportunities to make it close but couldn’t execute

Have to credit Auburn. Their defense was excellent and they didn’t make many mistakes on the other end. They are as good as any team I’ve seen to start the season

Believers should note that it is unlikely for Washington to have another convergence of bad biorhythms while playing so many games back-to-back again during the next 4-5 months.

Jus’ sayin’

Frustrating to see the SEC have more teams than the ACC that are good. Of course the SEC hasn't done well in the NCAA tournament lately. I guess it's a tradeoff, but I would like to see UNC have better overall teams than the SEC again outside of Kentucky.

I don’t mean to alarm anyone, but Auburn might be the best team in the country.
They're handling a decent, undefeated Memphis team by 15 at the moment in the 2nd half - A team who just went through both UCONN and M.St.. I think it's safe to say Aubie has something this year. Ole Chuck Barkley will be pleased.

The SEC isn’t the big 10. I feel like they’ve faired about as well as any conference in the NCAAT the last X amount of years

But yeah… ideally UNC should have better talent than anyone. It’s been a while since that has been true

Cadeu with 2 fouls before the first TV timeout is not going to bode well for our chances to win this game.
