Most papers offer at least a month or more of free for very low cost introductory subscriptions. I took advantage of those for the 2020 election in many key battleground states (AZ, Miami Herald, Atlanta Journal Constitution, etc.). Local medi coverage of local elections is generally superior to the national coverage.

The thing is, it turned out to be a pain in the ass to cancel all those initially free or $0.99 introductory subscriptions when I had 15 of them.

So I propose that we pool our resources and have a dozen or so of us each sign up for one such regional subscription now that we are 4 weeks out from Election Day. That way we each only have the hassle of canceling one of those before the full price subscription auto renews, and we can share at least key snippets (not full or nearly full copies) of paywalled local coverage.

Some suggested outlets (maybe someone here already subscribes)

Atlanta Journal Constitution
Arizona Republic
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Philadelphia Inquirer
Detroit Free Press
Macomb Daily
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Charlotte Observer
Winston Salem Journal
Las Vegas Sun
Las Vegas Review-Journal
Omaha World Herald
Lincoln Star Journal
Minnesota Star Tribune
Billings Gazette
Miami Herald
Dallas Morning News
Houston Chronicle

I see this idea has caught zero fire, but bumping it once to double-check if any interest. LOL.

If it makes you feel better, I read it. I just know I'm not dedicated enough to be a good participant.

You're awesome for all the info you bring to this board.

That is totally fair and no pressure intended on anyone to do otherwise, just thought I would check. It also might make sense to wait to do something like this only if needed if there are multiple challenges to election results after Election Day (which is how I ended up with a dozen extra subscriptions in 2020 on top of my keepers -- NYT, WSJ, WaPo, The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs

Also, if there's a place you don't use a lot, archive.ph will get you around nearly any paywall that exists.

If your morals are flexible on such things.
