Most papers offer at least a month or more of free for very low cost introductory subscriptions. I took advantage of those for the 2020 election in many key battleground states (AZ, Miami Herald, Atlanta Journal Constitution, etc.). Local medi coverage of local elections is generally superior to the national coverage.
The thing is, it turned out to be a pain in the ass to cancel all those initially free or $0.99 introductory subscriptions when I had 15 of them.
So I propose that we pool our resources and have a dozen or so of us each sign up for one such regional subscription now that we are 4 weeks out from Election Day. That way we each only have the hassle of canceling one of those before the full price subscription auto renews, and we can share at least key snippets (not full or nearly full copies) of paywalled local coverage.
