The 9.1% inflation was caused by Biden raising spending by 4.7 TRILLION for his green new energy deals which raised spending by 22% over prior law. Not a shocker inflation exploded.
It was not caused by that. It was caused by supply chain disruption. The economic literature is pretty clear about that. The American Rescue plan might have contributed a point of inflation, but not more.

Get a fucking clue. My manufacturer has passed along 2 increases already this year after none since 2022. I already run very tight margins so I can't eat these increases. Hope you like paying for them.
What amazes me is that when I aligned with conservatives, they knew that all cost end up being paid be the end consumer. It's interesting how trump convinced them they were wrong and that somehow the cost could be paid by members of the supply chain.

Also, 4.7 trillion, huh? Link? God damn, son. Have you no thinking facilities at all?

The "green new energy deals" were less than a trillion and spread out over many years. Much of that will not happen because Trump. Those investments were net positives for America -- much the same way that the Obama green-energy loans produced countless benefits for America.

And that 4.7T was a full-decade estimate. It included measures like infrastructure repair, veterans benefits, SNAP, etc.

As for the June budget surplus, here is a link for you to read:

As for tariff revenue generally, even if you optimistically estimate that the tariff revenue increases by $250 billion per year, that will not come close to offsetting the $400 billion+ per year in tax revenues that we will lose due to Trump's tax cuts for the wealthy.
Not to mention decreased tax receipts from lax enforcement.

Also, I'm still waiting on my tax refund. I can't be the only one.

And someone is still going to have to pay for those things.

...and thanks to ram, panda, calla, and HY, we deserve it

So when inflation exploded everywhere else across the world (in many places worse than in the US), was that because every other world government enacted a Green New Deal at the same time? What an amazing coincidence!

And yet somehow inflation is coming down.
Inflation rate is the same as it was on Election Day. It got down to 2.4% last September and has fluctuated between 2.3 and 3.0 ever since. In the most recent month it went up from 2.4% to 2.7%. We'll see where it ends up for this month.

The tariffs are totally genius and working perfectly, except for the, you know, higher costs that everyone is paying for literally everything as a result, or the reduced GDP growth, or the job losses, or the wage reduction, or the trade deficits that have somehow remained exactly as-is, or the retaliatory impacts by our biggest trading partners, or the disruption of supply chains, or the higher input costs for U.S. manufacturers which makes them materially less competitive in the long run.
It's almost like Trump was too busy chasing skirts to attend that Econ 101 class.

What is the price/pain threshold for MAGA cultists before they say, "I think I'm going to stop drinking this Kool-Aid"?

Have you not visited a grocery store since Trump took office ?

Every item I pick up on my list at Food Lion each week is just a little bit higher than when Biden was still in office back in January.

And gas when I fill up my tank at the pump ? I am so thankful that the price has not increased since Trump took office !

You need to focus on the fact that Trump has increased your estate tax exclusion to 15 million

"The proposal is President Trump’s most consequential step yet to derail federal climate efforts and appears to represent a shift toward outright denial of the scientific consensus."

Okay MAGAts and the MAGA-adjacent with children, are you okay with your kids living on an ever hotter planet? Do you care at all?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

So, where do they get the money to absorb that cost then?

If they reduce margins, that means less revenues, correct? What can less revenues lead to?

Less ability to hire. Less ability to give raises. Less ability to provide good benefits. Less ability to innovate or offer new products.

You stated that you run a small business. Where do your revenues come from? How will you react to lower margins and less profits?

AND, what's the difference in just taxing corporations at the rate they were taxed at before trump cut the corporate taxes in half?

And yet somehow inflation is coming down.
Inflation is coming down because the pandemic is over, the supply chain is pretty much back to normal, and there were policies under the Biden administration that helped.

Which actual policy has trump introduced or the republicans introduced that helped inflation? They are riding on a lagging effect and playing reality TV with tariffs and uncertainty. But trumps friends are getting richer by knowing when to buy and sell in the markets. Trump says something stupid the market reacts negatively, buy. Then trump caves, the market rebounds, sell. It's great if you have the money to invest. 98% of the people in the country don't.

But you keep standing behind his regressive tactics and keep watching the debt grow and the wealth and income gap increase. What happened to conservatives being for keeping the debt down?

Well if they keep believing the lies that tariffs are only going to increase government revenues and no one is going to actually have to pay them, then it is going to take awhile.
