I wonder if Aloka is with them and riding in their support van or has yet to rejoin them?

“When I created The Walk For Peace Greensboro NC event, my goal was to share information with friends and a few community groups about the Monk’s walk coming through Greensboro. I never imagined it would attract 16,000 people. I’m deeply grateful — and yes, a little overwhelmed — by the outpouring of support for this beautiful movement.

Over the past few days I’ve been responding to messages, phone calls, questions, and coordinating with officials and organizers to keep everyone updated. It’s been a lot, but I honestly can’t think of a more meaningful way to spend my time and energy right now. I’m thankful for everyone’s patience, kindness, and commitment to showing up with respect.

Here is my most recent update:

🕊️ Route & Timing
THE DETAILED ROUTE, LUNCH STOP, AND REST LOCATION ARE NOT RELEASED UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE EACH WALK.
That is standard for this pilgrimage.

What I can share now:

• The monks are expected to pass through High Point as they make their way into Greensboro on the 19th.
• They will follow paths generally parallel to I‑85.
• Their route and rest stop will be on the south side of Greensboro.
• They are not accepting material donations of any kind.
• Do not bring pets (even if lining the street)

🧣 How to Show Support

You are welcome to quietly and respectfully line the streets along their route January 19th.
They begin walking around 6:30 AM each day.
Generally, the public has been able to walk behind the monks as long as there was a police escort. That may have changed yesterday and I will confirm in the event.
There is a live map link in the event page that updates their location in real time so you can decide when and where you would like to stand or join the walk.
Dress warmly. Arrive early.
You can also see / join them the morning of the 20th as they depart Greensboro.

🍲 Lunch Stop (Approx. 10:30 AM–1:30 PM)

This is a rest period for the monks.
They do not speak publicly during lunch but you are welcome to gather there in support.

🌙 Evening Rest Stop (Approx. 6–9 PM)

This is the formal gathering, and the time when they do speak to the public.
It is usually the largest turnout, so please plan to arrive early.

---

Thank you again for the incredible support and the spirit of peace you’re bringing to this moment. Greensboro is ready to welcome them with warmth, respect, and unity.

Walk For Peace Greensboro NC — feeling grateful.”

Would love to see the Buddhists come down 87 and then head over Chicken Bridge (wish it was still the old bridge) and then re-cross the Haw via the old Bynum Bridge and back whatever road to cross Jordan Lake.

Walk for Peace has announced their plans for Day 90, January 23, 2026. This is their planned itinerary. Please know that the times are approximate and can be affected by weather and other factors. Please keep following their Facebook page for updates, especially as the winter weather arrives this weekend!

Everyone is welcome to visit during their lunch and overnight rest stops, as capacity allows. Typically, one of the monks speaks at the events, delivering a message of peace.

The monks will be traveling east on Business 64 and then U.S. 64 for most of the day, starting from the Chatham County Agricultural & Industrial Fair Association.

Overnight Rest

On January 24, the monks are expected to reach Raleigh. We will update here when they announce their plans.

Walk for Peace is drawing very large crowds. One way to see them in a quieter setting is to visit as they set off for the morning. They typically start between 6:30 and 7 a.m. You can also stand by the side of the road as they walk, provided there's a safe place to do so. You probably know by now that you should not touch the monks (obviously!) and you should respect their space and meditative quiet.

We are updating here every day: Buddhist Monks' Walk for Peace in Apex Jan. 23 - learn how to visit - Triangle on the Cheap

Peace be with them as they are about to do the most difficult part of their entire journey: cutting through NC State's campus
