I turned on the TV to watch some of the US Open and paused on her game on the way there. Just as I tuned in she hit 3 bombs in 38 seconds, 2 of them were 30+ footers.

I was suggesting the Clark Reese rivalry was good for the league. While Reese isn’t 1/2 the player, her mouthy obnoxiousness has elevated her q rating. Thus the rivalry has promotional value and is good for the league.

There are certainly much better players in the league to battle Clark, but many aren’t well known outside the existing fanbase.

I appreciate her tremendous skill.

I get sick of her constant complaining to officials. I don’t know of anyone in either the NBA or WNBA who complain half as much as she does but I don’t watch much of either.

Just play the game. Maybe complain when a call is extraordinarily bad.

While I am certainly overstating the case, the NBA was drifting into obscurity when Magic and Bird not only arrived on the scene, but landed with exactly the right teams to generate fan interest. And a couple of years later when a generational defining player landed in Chicago, the NBA exploded. I can't fault the WNBA for trying to recreate one of the most spectacular revivials in the history of professional sports.
