Agree. With Brown at least the size and frame is there. I'm not real keen on High's skillset but I like the energy and physicality he brought his freshman year
Brown also brings some energy and attitude, which is desperately needed.

And we already know High likes to mix it up and be vocal.

More of that will go a long way IMO, especially coupled with their expected development.

Can Cadeau keep repeating his Wake Forest performance? If not, then i'm an Elliot Cadeau hater. I see all the '25 roster talk involving Caleb Wilson, and when they involve Cadeau i have trouble getting excited about being a strong, winning squad. He's really young, so I want to keep him and lock him away with a shooting coach, but if Cadeau can't get a better outside shot then i think he'd be an awesome 7th man off the bench.

Hope this is the beginning of turning things around. I wish Jackson and Powell would stay, but if they both go Hubert is going to have to find some more pieces to go along with Wilson, Cadeau and Trimble next season. Maybe Washington, Lubin, Brown and Tyson can step up, but I don't know if all of them will be around. They do have a couple of guards coming in that would have to step in for RJ and Jackson if Jackson leaves. I guess Wilson would step in for Powell if he leaves, too, but he seems to be more of a true big and Powell a guard/small forward.

I’d like to see them go after the best most established bigs in the portal.

I don’t see the upside in settling on projects and unproven guys.

We must be watching different games

He's playing on a team that can't shoot and has no inside presence. His flaws are exacerbated by terrible roster makeup and an offensive scheme not doing favors for anyone

I also wouldn't discount the effect of having a true playmaker like Cadeau on the roster in getting a player like Wilson to commit in the first place

I know Caleb specifically named EC as a reason for wanting to come here. But I don’t know how much impact it really had. But he did say it on multiple occasions.

Regarding Cadeau, you can’t teach someone to be a great shooter, but you can teach someone to be a better shooter. His form isn’t bad, so it’s a matter of shot selection (which also means *not* passing up clean looks), as well as getting in the gym and putting up literally thousands and thousands of shots in practice and his spare time.

I think his shot will be coming along sooner than later, including the RJ type mid-range and floaters.

It’s his IQ I’ve been less sure of. Especially defensively, he gets himself out of position and commits terrible mindless fouls. He puts a lot of pressure on himself and it’s almost like he’s pressing too hard. It would’ve been nice if he’d have sorted this out by 1.5 seasons of college ball… but I think it’ll eventually come around too.

Agree. Needs to stop the over passing and just score sometimes. He's already a strong finisher around the basket for his size

But yeah the form on the jumper isn't bad. If he sees the same improvement soph to jr as he did fresh to soph he's in business

I think it's great for Caleb to commit to Carolina. He's highly rated and been highly recruited, and to commit on such a public stage, even at 1:30 in the morning, is huge for the program.

My excitement is tempered, however, by a lot of doubt that Hubert can build a team that takes advantage of his talents. I mean, Jackson was the 8th ranked prospect nationally last year, and Powell was 11th. How's that worked out this year? The team that's been assembled around them is not cohesive or built to maximize their (or frankly anyone else's) strengths.

Maybe Hubert will prove all us naysayers wrong next year though.

Cadeau absolutely needs to mature but he's integral to Hubert keeping his job/UNC success moving forward. A lot of his weaknesses are exacerbated by the rest of our backcourt sharing those issues (too short, can't shoot). It's poor roster construction that isn't his fault.

He plays with heart, plays hard, is an elite passer, has elite speed. Lots of qualities to build off of (and he increased his 3pt % from 17-30 in one season, can get better). He needs to grow up but he's def someone we need.

Agree with the Cadeau takes. I think he is just one of those players that will fluctuate based on how good or bad the supporting cast is. If you put him in a system with good shooters and strong post presence, I feel like he can be a top tier PG that makes the engine run with his playmaking while carrying a modest scoring load. When the rest of the team is struggling to make shots like we’re seeing this season, it really exacerbates his flaws as a scorer. He’s just not someone that can consistently make his own offense like Jackson or RJ. I’m not sure what to make of him defensively. Obviously he struggles on that side of the ball, but I think he has more potential to improve that part of his game than even his offensive skills tbh.

Keeping him is critical for next season imo. Bet on him growing more as a player and improving his mental approach to the game.

I'm glad that Caleb committed and we'll have him next year.

It's one step of team building for next year's team done.

I think he's fairly capable as a defender. Has the quickness to stay in front of players and strong for his size. The lapses and bad decisions on that end are still a bit much however

Pairing him next to some size at the guard and wing position would help alleviate the strategy some teams look for in getting him or RJ in a mismatch

Picture him with Jamison, Ademola, Vince, and Shammond.

Or, Hansbrough, Thompson, Green, and Ellington.

To be fair, I could pretend to be a functional college basketball player if you made those guys my teammates.

I'm not saying we'd win a title, but I think we might make the NCAAT with me playing 20 minutes a game. (We would need someone talented like Cadeau to play the other 20 minutes at my position.)

How about a SO Cadeau with Jordan, Perkins, Daugherty, and Doherty rather than a SR Braddock?
