Well said, but I still prefer "Ignore" and "Super-Ignore." I grew up in an area where the Klan was not only present, but had widespread support. Once one has heard Klan rhetoric undiluted and unfiltered, hearing/seeing/smelling similar piles of turds with bows on top really doesn't improve things.
Stop being a 'snowflake' ;)

FYI the right-wing hysterics about the hydrants being dry are completely false. The issue was not a supply problem....the reservoirs that give LA water are completely full. The issue was simply a demand problem. With fires involving a single large building it is common for fire departments to ask the water provider for that area to boost pressure to the hydrants since the fire department is pumping such a large volume of water onto the fire. Now multiply that demand times 5k houses. It simply isn't possible to distribute that much water all at one time.

That's pretty neat! I would love to hear about this. Any desire to start a thread where we can learn about the different aspects of what you do, ask questions, etc.?
I appreciate the thought, but I'd prefer to just add a bit, here and there, if my background in 'brain' helps in any way. ;)

Neuroimaging. Our brains are a mess!
I would have a hundred questions for you but can be put in another thread. But, IYO, do you think MDs have a good understanding between the pros, cons, and limitations of EEG, Mri, and PET? Or are they dependent on people such as yourself for guidance?

I will say that physicians try their best to use knowledge gained from neuroimaging and neuroscience to guide their clinical decisions, but it's a work in progress. Clinical neuroscience is difficult work and it doesn't have the 'pat' answers that people would like, much like people didn't like what Dr. Fauci had to say during the pandemic.

"Snowflake"? When you grow up hearing the real stuff straight from the Grand Dragon's mouth, what is being spouted by today's weak-knee wannabes is just embarrassingly limp.
I'm sorry you had to experience such nonsense.

Relocating a reasonable post from I do thread to here as it is more on topic here.

Another relocation

Gee. If only there existed a way to actually look up facts instead of making shit up.

Almost all California reservoirs are well above their historical average. It ain't a lake level issue.

Newsom has been listed as a possible Democratic candidate for 2028, and he's also a strong Trump critic, so all this political brouhaha is about nothing more than tearing him down and wrecking his chances for reelection in two years and perhaps his chances at the presidency in 2028. If it helps Republicans have a better chance of winning the California governorship in 2026 then so much the better. The fact that conservatives as diverse as Joe Rogan and Mel Gibson have joined in the assault on Newsom is likely no accident. We should expect to see these kinds of coordinated attacks on Democrats and any Trump critics over the next four years - not just from his administration, but working in conjunction with right-wing media from Fox to Rogan to right-wing talk radio and other outlets like the LA Times in California. Just relentlessly attack and tear down opponents until their reputation is shredded and they're finished as a political force.

Today I saw on Twitter (1) a clip of a Rogan episode from months ago where he explained how a California firefighter had told him there would inevitably be a catastrophic fire in LA and that there wouldn't be anything we could do about it because of high winds, geographic factors, etc; and (2) a clip from Rogan in the last day or so with Mel Gibson, in which Rogan dismissively derided the suggestion that these fires couldn't be prevented as liberal BS.

Whatever that dude used to be, he's gone, man. Just like Elon, entirely captured by "red pill" BS.

He’s pretty much who he has always been.

Someone wanting fame; and, greater fame.

The beauty is that this debate (who to blame?) is going to play out in real time over the coming weeks and months. Let's see if the local residents, particularly the ones who lost everything, are receptive to Bass, Newsome and the other local officials simply blaming this on "climate," Trump or "we-couldn't-possibly- predicted-this type of natural disaster." Lots of wealthy and important people impacted by this including celebrities - who have access to the media. I predict there's going to be major pushback from these victims and the officials are, for once, going to have to account for their actions and policies and have to answer tough questions from the public and press.

Fast forward 6 months from now, you're going to have tremendous frustration of the public in dealing with California's notoriously rigid permitting and zoning regulations which will slow down, if not halt, these residents from rebuilding their homes.
Forty-five years ago, way too many Moreheads went to future Trumplicans from North Carolina and Virginia Episcopal or Woodberry Forest.
What’s wrong with Episcopal and Woodberry? Great student pipelines for UNC.

His point was its nice if you like Schools that produce trumplicans-which those schools tend to do Use to be country club Republicans-but that identity is gone
