I am at the mechanic right now, and this woman was telling the guy at the counter about how she had a breakdown in a rental car in Scotland and the tow truck driver had a Maple Leafs hat on. She asked about it and said he lived in Calgary for 10 years before moving back home. He then asked "are you an American?" she said oh no, Nova Scotian through and through yadda yadda yadda. He charged her only for the gas upon hearing that.
Every person in the lobby and all the employees here started laughing.

Three hotels in Las Vegas are now accepting the Canadian dollar at equivalent value to the American dollar for select gaming, hotel, and drink services.
Circa Resort and Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel and Casino will participate in the ‘At Par’ program until Aug. 31. The goal is to remove financial barriers for Canadians wanting to travel to Vegas.
Canadians will also be able to gamble at par by redeeming up to $500 in slot promotional play, according to the hotels.

Of course. Vegas is full of sharps. Even at $500 limit a day, that would still be $100 a day profit for anyone with access to a bunch of loonies.

Interesting they’re using GDP per capita in comparison to Texas to ostensibly show how much better the US is. Who is going to tell them that the liberal hellscape that is California has GDP per capita of $103k, or 24% higher than Texas?
