I think it’s time for us to buy a minivan. We have a Subaru Outback but it’s still cramped with a 7 and 3 year old, especially when carpooling and when my wife picks up our 1 year old niece.

Seems like the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna are the clear leaders, any reason to choose one over the other? Seems like a recent model in decent condition for either is going be at least mid-30s.
Sienna's are nice. much older model of course but my parents got one back in the early aughts when they first released and my mom put 150k+ miles on it and then it was given to me and i put another @100k on it.

can't beat that toyota reliability.

We had a 2006 Sienna. Traded it 2022 with around 200k miles. GREAT car.

I just got a 2026 Palisade Calligraphy and it’s really nice. Feels like a luxury car but cheaper than competitors with the same features.

I've had 3 Sequoias. All were great at the time, but my new one is the best I've ever had. I was suspicious, but it has more torque and HP than my V8 version and it tows better. I feel like I lost some storage behind the 3rd row but I only use that when the grandkids are in town. Definitely gets better milage.

Damn….those 2026 Palisades just came out and we already have two on this board! 2026 is a complete makeover for the Palisade and Telluride. The 2026 Telluride won’t be available until closer to January.

Oh dang I think I misread the initial post. I got a 2025, not 2026! Hyundai was doing the 0 APR on the 2025 model (presumably to clear inventory for the arrival of the 2026).

I had a lease that was ending and had reserved to get a 26 Palisade. Initially, it was going to arrive in September, but they had a couple early ones arrive, so I got it literally the day after it came off the truck lol. It looks a lot better in person than in pics (even though the pics look good too imo)

I wish I had looked at the Palisade when the lease was up on my 2022 Pilot. The cost of the 2025 Pilot with the same options as my 2022 was $10K more than what the 2022 cost. I had leased a Pilot every three years since 2013. The cost of the lease stayed pretty much the same with all of them. It was cheaper to lease my 2022 Pilot than it was to buyout the 2019. The lease for the 2025 one was going to be $100 more a month than it was for the 2022. I ended up buying out the 2022 because it was cheaper. I think it is crazy how much the price went up in 3 years. I looked at the 2025 Palisade after I bought out the 2022 Pilot, and the cost of one with the same options as my 2022 Pilot was $10K less than the 2025 Pilot with the same options.

My new ride.

They finally put an manual in it.

The first or second year the Z3 came out, my uncle had a book publishing company call and ask, “Are you ever going to send us that manuscript?”

He had to ask, “What manuscript?”

It had been 15 or so years and my uncle had forgotten. After being reminded, he told the pleasant young employee on the phone, “I told your company YEARS AGO that I don’t write made-up books. I follow the research. Your company didn’t like the book I sent you.”

Eventually, the young employee said, “Well, are you going to return the advance (or whatever money). My uncle said, “Of course, where do I send it and how much?”

“Just the original $15K.”

“With interest?”

“No interest.”

My uncle had a habit of putting money like that into Vanguard S&P Index Fund accounts and then ignoring them.

So, when told “no interest,” he subtracted “$15,000” from the account balance and went and bought a BMW Z3 with cash.

His wife, my aunt (my Dad’s sister), was appalled at what he’d spent ON A CAR.

He then showed her how it wasn’t real money and they were extraordinarily well-off even after frivolously buying the Z3.

He’d gone from a family that was dirt poor and uneducated and he was the first high school graduate in his family, the first college graduate, and the first Ph.D. Then, the longtime Dean of UGA’s School/College of Education.

My aunt quickly came to love that Z3. Hated parting with it when they downsized and had room for only two vehicles.

I’m just going to go ahead and tell it. My daughter came to work with me when Covid began. At that point I was driving a “fairly reliable” 1985 F150
She had me change my bookkeeper and after 6 months the new guy had a zoom call with me. Between repairs and gas I was spending @$1,200 a month!?!
Long story short my daughter and I went to Mark Jacobson next week and I bought a RAV4 off the truck and got the zero interest on I think @35-36K . This month is the last payment and my auto expenses for the last year are less than $50.
You’re never too old to get smarter!
