Carolina Fever

I don't have a problem with the system itself if people want to use it. I just think you should be able to disable it without having to turn it off every time you start the car.

Yeah, pushing that button is such a chore. Get a different car. My car (and my wife’s) stay in the position you left in in the last time you were in the car. No need to change the setting (again, by pushing a button) every time you start the car.

I just recalled that you had started a thread about this, so when I read the article I thought I would share.

I’m sure the tech has improved by now but every car I’ve driven with start/stop (usually rentals) has been implemented terribly. It’s not a shock so many consumers dislike it

I would be more interested in the ability to shut the engine off with a push of a button when desired. I don’t want the car shutting off in stop and go or at stop signs. Or when trying to merge from a stop

I have a RAV4 and I absolutely hate this feature. It’s preposterous there isn’t a way to permanently disable it, and instead you have to click the button every single time you start the car to disable it for that ride.

Rav 4 is one the cars I’ve driven with start/stop and yeah it was bad..

I would’ve thought if anyone would get it right it would be Toyota

How are Hondas with it?

I drive a ton of rental cars when I travel for work and that feature is the bane of my existence. We just bought a new Hyundai Palisade that allows you to permanently disable it, thankfully.
I really wish I had looked at those when the lease for my Pilot was up instead of buying the Pilot. Honda has really jacked up their prices since I leased it in 2022.

I drive a hybrid and if my car didn't do what is described, then it really wouldn't be a hybrid. I have had absolutely ZERO problems with my car switching from gas to electric as conditions, speed, and slope of the road warrants.

It's funny my wife drives a 2023 Honda CRV and her car has the auto start/stop setting and my older CRV doesn't but my car gets better mileage than hers

I always heard the biggest wear on your car is starting it, too. I wonder if the car is idling every time it stops and then restarts wears out the ignition and engine faster.

Hybrids are good at this. Naturally

Doesn’t matter if your gas engine is off when you have electric. And it’s smooth

It’s the haphazardly use in cheap gas vehicles people don’t like
