Reviving the thread after watching the end of the game tonight...
Hurricanes blew a 3-0 lead against the Panthers and then lost in the shootout. Canes have been playing well and got Slavin back last week. But blowing that lead by giving up three goals in the 3rd period is pretty awful. Goaltending has been a concern for me for the past several years. Looked like Canes might have stumbled into a No. 1 with Brandon Bussi, but tonight makes me wonder. Canes have lacked a true No. 1 goaltender for years, and Freddie this year is a given to allow at least 3 goals every time he is in net. Freddie may be done. Koochie shows flashes but is not consistent enough. Not sure if Bussi is the answer. Which is a shame, because the team has been quite good for a long time now.
Anyway, bought ready for the Canes to move Svech and get what they can. Late in tonight's game when Panthers pulled the goalie, Svech had a chance to either shoot the puck at an empty net or at least maintain possession and seemed to lazily turn the puck over (maybe it was not so bad but would have to look again). After the turnover, Panthers score the goal to tie things up. And then Jarvis gets taken down and suffers an injury, which likely would not have happened if Svech had put more effort on that play at center ice.
Svech has played okay, but has a -2 rating, which is not too big a deal, but stands out when all other forwards have a plus rating. Svech plays mostly on the top line with Aho and Javis so that seems like his production should be better than what it is.
