my point is, like Kirk, you are a terrible person who delights in dehumanizing people you perceive to be lesser. You have a chance to work on that, which he unfortunately no longer does. But do you!
I don't dehumanize anyone. Regarding trans women, saying that they shouldn't participate in female sports because they are biologically male isn't dehumanizing, It's a fact.

I also won't litter this thread with any more trans discussion unless the suspect is trans.

What about a trans woman who was treated for gender dysphoria and had puberty blockers before puberty hit and subsequent surgery?

In that situation, where they have not gone through puberty, I'm open to considering participation in female sports.

True dat (though I do some thread and extreme trolling housekeeping from time to time). For those offended by assassination in thread title, for instance, that’s on me, not Rock.

I did try to be balanced in my moderation and to created a culture with a lot of room for adults to push each other without crossing certain lines.

It is a tough job in any circumstance, even with the self-moderation options Rock has delivered, an event like this during a period of heightened tensions makes it nearly impossible to find a balance.

I encourage all our regulars to consider how our community is maintained by a lot of donated time and effort and also by your own personal restraint.

If I were still officially moderating, which I am glad today not to be, not sure how I would handle a thread like this. People need space to vent but I am sorry to see how our own community can target each other to the extent happening here. But maybe better here than elsewhere?

I dunno. I stepped back from moderating for a lot of reasons and today I feel both relieved but more like a craven deserter.
You did it the way it’s supposed to be done. By remaining above personal pov’s

It isn't me or Ram who are so threatened by differing opinions that we are on a message board applauding the possible death of someone because of different political views. You guys are the party of tolerance and inclusion right? In reality its just the opposite.
Wrong.
Wrong.
And wrong.

The country is going to shit. Might as well just move to somewhere else like New Zealand or Canada if you can, or just block out everything and live your life being a good person.

I did that, not Rock. I saw confirmation Kirk died, and my first update to “shot dead” seemed to crass. Given Kirk’s political standing and the shooting seemingly planned by someone with some sniper skills, it seemed a reasonable update. If it turns out his bookie or whatever had him killed for reasons unrelated to politics, the thread title can be updated.
in all likelihood it's an assassination but given the tendency among some to label shooters mentally ill, trans, or gangbangers depending on the circumstances or appearances or political hopes and wishes, it's annoying to me to see a little shit like Kirk be anointed as an assassination victim when there's as much evidence that he was killed because he pissed off his drug dealer: none. "Kirk shot and killed" seems perfectly appropriate given what we know. I'm not steaming mad about it or anything, just lightly irked.

So, I’m trying to imagine what Americans felt from the JFK assassination in 1963 through the MLK and RFK assassinations in 1968? I can read about it and hear my parents talk about it etc but today makes me wonder … nothing against Kirk, but his death is nowhere near the level of those assassinations, IMO.

Probably a good thing they had to rely on chain letters and weird clubs to spread conspiracy theories then…
