Charlie Kirk shot and killed at Utah rally.

Especially the "wrapped in towel" part. I could see using the woods as a momentary stop during your sprint away to wipe my away prints, and ditch it print-less knowing it would be found eventually. But why not stuff the towel back in your backpack and cover the gun with sticks and leaves instead of a towel? He had an escape route, it seems this was probably intentional.

Also shooter could've kept the rifle with him til the woods (with several more bullets loaded) for defense against potential coppers.
That is why I am skeptical that the rifle in the woods is the murder weapon. It could be. It also could be someone else’s gun. They like guns in Utah. On the other hand, I can’t imagine there are too many guns lying around in the woods in Utah.

A retired banker living in Toronto found himself unwillingly thrust into the centre of a political firestorm after being falsely linked to the shooting of right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.

Michael Mallinson, 77, had no idea what was happening until he got a panicked phone call around 6 p.m., while he was taking a nap. It was his daughter, instructing him to delete his social media because his name and photo were being spread online by an account claiming he was the suspect in the shooting.

The problem: Mallinson says he's never set foot in Utah.

"This was all shock and horror, first of all, that there'd been a shooting, but second of all that I was in any way named or implicated in it," said Mallinson.

Hope he sues the shit out of whoever spread his name and photo as being linked to the murder

The rhetoric has heated up before ANY facts are known.
Stupid.
We don't even know who the killer is yet, but my facebook feed today has been filled with Trumper relatives, old high school friends and former coworkers, etc. writing paeans to Kirk as a wonderful Christian man who is now a martyr and was killed because he stood up for Jesus and traditional moral values and so on. To quote one of the posts I saw "I hope they all know that he wasn’t just shot by a crazy person. He was assassinated for his bold stand on the sanctity of life, the biblical view of men and women, American history, the constitution, and salvation. He is a martyr." And I'll say that I've been somewhat surprised by who has been posting this stuff, as some of them rarely post directly on politics or political topics.

And nowhere is there is a mention that this same "Christian" said some very narrow minded and un-Christian stuff on his shows. Just a sample:

It's "Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more"

"If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?"

"If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously"

On transgenders and gays: Being transgender "is a mental delusion", an "Abomination to God", and their very existence is "a throbbing middle finger to God", and he said that "God also calls for the stoning of gay people" and called it "God's perfect law."

"Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You’re not in charge" (he said just last month when Taylor Swift got engaged to Kelce)

In June 2025 he told a 14-year-old girl that women should go to college just to find husbands, or "get their MRS degree."

"I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational"

"The American Democrat party hates this country. They wanna see it collapse. They love it when America becomes less white"

"Islam is the sword the left is using to slit the throat of America"

"There is no separation of church and state. It’s a fabrication, it’s a fiction, it’s not in the constitution. It’s made up by secular humanists"

And that's just a small sampling of what he's said over the years. None of that justifies him being shot of course, but to claim that he was some kind of saint while totally ignoring all of the incendiary and bigoted and sexist stuff that he's said is a denial of truth. And again, we don't even know who the killer is yet. But the process of turning him into a martyr for the right who was murdered by evil liberals is already well underway.

On Wednesday evening, Jaimie Powell Horowitz, an Oak Park district court judge, posted a quote from Kirk just hours after he was slain, in which he said in 2023, "I think it’s worth it to have the cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every year..so we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights. It’s a prudent deal, a rational deal."
