genuinely - if he dies, is this a political assassination? he doesn't hold office, he's just a public figure who has opinions on politics.

this does make it worse imo. you understand an assassin responding violently to power being exerted on him, even if you find it disproportionate. i have more sympathy for luigi, and would have more sympathy for a hypothetical trump assassin, for example, than i do for this shooter.

Literally no one makes any statements like “those kids are pieces of shit, but they didn’t deserve to be shot” comments after kids get shot in school shootings. Universal horror whenever innocent kids are shot.

I think so. He's a political figure and very likely was shot because of his political views.

I'm not sure it really matters with regards to the criminal prosecution.
 
I'm not a fan of Kirk, but people shouldn't get shot for expressing their views. However...

Didn’t see it myself but someone on social media said CNN guest said he’s stable and breathing. Amazing if true based on what people are saying happened in the video. Didn’t watch myself.
