Just so many human pieces of shit in this thread.

Based on your first sentence, you don't hope he is ok you lying hypocritical piece of shit. At least have the stones to admit it. You are among your cult so no need to fake being PC.
Agree. More respect for the honest posters who admit they're glad he was shot and hoping for more conservative deaths as part of America's second civil war that's been frequently discussed here.

I've seen one up close video, while it seems like a chest hit there is an immediate arterial spurt/large volume of blood coming out of his neck area. Possibly the bullet hit a bone and ricocheted up towards the jugular. I would be shocked if he survives, but I truely hope that he does.
Yes I just saw that as well…Not good…

“… A university spokeswoman, Ellen Treanor, said that Mr. Kirk was struck about 20 minutes after he began speaking on campus. She said a suspect had fired at Mr. Kirk from the Losee Center, a building about 200 yards away, and been taken into custody.…”

Trump shooter was about 120-150 meters away iirc

Horrific. Not much more you can say than that. Hate it the most for his wife and children. Nobody should be a widow and no children should grow up without their father because of senseless violence. I hope they’re able to find some semblance of comfort and strength in the hours, days, and weeks ahead.

As you said... It's fucking horrific. My first thought was not that a right wing propagandist was shot. But that another American was senselessly gunned down. And for what?

The worst part of this is that it's probably not the last of these attacks. The climate in this country is awful. And I'm sorry to say that I contribute to it by matching the energy of the right.

Wow, I'm surprised the NY Times would cover this event since it was merely a local, Utah assassination.

Hopefully he survives.

Whoever did this just made a martyr, which seems unlikely to have been the intent of an assassin. But I guess anyone who picks up a weapon with intent to murder someone probably is not thinking clearly (which is not to say they are not responsible for their actions).

Gabby Giffords, who has some experience with this sort of thing, has decried this violence against Kirk.

FYI Charlie Kirk was asked "when do we get to use the guns to kill them for stealing elections," and he responded, "I'm going to denounce that, and here's why-- it plays into their hands."

Not we shouldn't kill them because it's wrong. Because it plays into their hands. Doesn't mean he should get shot, but if there was a person who had to be shot this day, I won't complain that it's him.

I'm not a fan of Kirk, but people shouldn't get shot for expressing their views. However...

"Kirk's comments come about one week after three children and three adults were killed at the Christian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee."

Imagine the sorrow of those parents. Best 'billie doesn't say more. Well... I'm not sending thoughts and prayers.

Agree, violence is not the answer here (nor was it right for Luigi Mangione).

But in grand scheme of things (like the thousands of shooting each year of people who don't 'reap what they sow') i gotta admit my care factor is minimal.

And I get that is not who I want to be, but it is who I am in this current world.
I don’t think that perspective is inherently wrong. I think where I stand is that, I don’t really care one way or the other about people like Kirk who use their platform glorify and incite hatred and division with their rhetoric, but I do feel awful for thier spouses, children, parents, etc. And I think that no matter how reprehensible one’s views, they do not deserve to be murdered. Human life is too precious and too fleeting to be extinguished so senselessly.

But yeah, I won’t be shedding tears for Kirk personally- though I most certainly hope he survives and recovers. I hope his family members find peace, comfort, strength, and healing.

Kirk also famously said something like “we have to accept some deaths every year so we can keep the 2nd amendment”

The absolute BEST outcome from this would be for Kirk to make a full recovery, reform himself, and use his platform to to advocate for sensible gun laws. That is what we should all hope for.
