I'd go a little further and say its always important to wait until a suspect has been tried in a court of law before assigning blame. An arrest =/= confirmation of guilt. But I agree with your general notion for sure.

McVeigh chose not to fight it. And his conversations with a couple of Buffalo News reporters did give a good bit of insight into his thinking. his correspondence with Gore Vidal may have, as well, though Vidal’s use of them has been questioned. Either way, he pretty clearly articulated his motivations and general lack of remorse for what he called “collateral damage” of his actions.
 
Writing the phrase "If you read this you are gay" on the bullet casing is an interesting window into this guy's psyche. Generally speaking, you wouldn't expect an LGBTQ ally to say something like that. What are those Republicans who hate Trump called -- Never Trumpers or RINOs? I wonder if the shooter falls into that slice of the venn diagram.
