The great Great Fishel has spoken.
I FEEL COMPELLED TO MAKE THIS POST
If AI is the be all and end all it's made out to be, then perhaps I'll be leaving the planet at just the right time. I'll give you an example. I don't know how to program in Python, but there are a plethora of python related applications in meteorology. So I thought I would ask chatgpt to write a python script for me to accomplish my goal. Ladies and gentlemen, the number of times it came back to me with an apology and/or admission that it was wrong was astounding. Most recently, I asked it to help me create a phase diagram for water in Microsoft Excel. It's been 4 days now, and they still can't get it right. I'll give it credit for being polite. It always says the problem is not me, but something else. I really thought this was suppose to be a huge leap forward, and maybe it is overall, but my personal experience has been nothing short of a nightmare and a colossal waste of time. Perhaps I should go back to doing things the way i did them in the 1960s: Check out the card catalog and do some real research. Outcome couldn't be any worse!
