I felt the competition was quicker than Tyson was used to when he played at UNC and he had a hard time getting his shot off because he didn't have that quick of a release.

Will be interesting to see how he holds up.

He didn’t show shit at UNC.
He does look fitter than last year. He might have realized he needed to get in MUCH BETTER shape to play D1 P4/G5 than he was in during the 2024-25 season.

I expect most high school and lower D1 level players don’t have a clue how hard they have to work on defense and to get open shots in D1 P4/G5 basketball.

Illinois loses to Bama by 4 in a game they miss 9 FTs

First I’ve watched Illinois and they looked good other than missing FTs. Balanced offensively with shooters, good size and rebounding at most positions

Bama impressive so far too unfortunately. Wins at MSG and the United Center vs top 10 teams

Vecenie is an NBA draft guy first and foremost so he’s probably approaching it more from the angle of raw talent.

It makes sense though. I’ve caught a fair amount of non-UNC games in the last few weeks and have seen some very competitive play where one or both sides have looked high quality.

What's shaping up as potentially one of those all-time freshman classes certainly helps

And the influx of international players + fringe NBA guys playing in college is true

Not sure there are any great teams (still too early) but seems like a high number of pretty good ones

Response to that...on next post.

Four of those 5 games were:
0-5 Gardner Webb
0-6 Alcorn State
1-4 Green Bay
0-5 Chicago State
Good point but Cade couldn't hit his shot in our easy games last season - maybe one game he had some success. He never found his groove.

I'm happy for him.

Agreed. Most years recently, even without Trimble, I think UNC would be a top-10 team (top-5 with Trimble). This year, UNC is almost certainly top-20, but there are about 25 teams that could make a reasonable case for being better than all but 4-5 teams many other years.

Ranked men's college basketball teams are 85-0 vs. unranked teams this season.

That is the LONGEST win streak by ranked teams against unranked opponents at any point in a season in AP Poll history.
That’s actually hard to believe haha. Wild stat.

I don’t see any Patrick Ewings or Ralph Sampsons or Sam Perkinses or Chris Mullinses or Larry Birds or Grant Hills playing 4 seasons. I don’t see any Michael Jordans, James Worthys, Clyde Drexlers, Charles Barkleys, Akeem Olajuwons, Vince Carters, or Antawn Jamisons playing 3 seasons. Are any Magic Johnsons or Zeke Thomases or Rasheed Wallaces or Jerry Stackhouses or Elton Brands playing 2 seasons in college?

College basketball might be more talented AND experienced than at any point in the last 20-25+ seasons; but, it pales in comparison to when all-time greats played 3-4 seasons.

Oh, for sure. 77-95 was the best era for college ball.
