College Basketball 2025-26 season thread

I think the top five in the ACC are all going to be legitimate second weekend NCAA contenders. Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Louisville, and NC State should all be really strong. I also think teams like Clemson and Wake Forest could be solid. I’m hopeful that there are at least a decent number of Q1 opportunities in league play.

Duke is clearly the primary national championship contender in the league, and Louisville could be right behind them if their offense and shooting is as elite as I think it’s going to be. They added Isaac McNeely from Virginia who was one of the best three-point shooters in the country, and he might only be the third best shooter on that team. I’m really excited about Carolina’s potential, especially if and when we get Luka cleared to play- I think it’s going to be really fun seeing us have a good interior game again. It was really difficult watching us get owned in the paint and on the glass over and over last year. To me, Virginia could be a surprise team in the league- I really like that hire in Ryan Odom and think he put together a really good roster for his first year. They are going to play fast and score a lot of points, and probably give up a lot of points as well, which will certainly be the complete opposite of what we have come to expect from Virginia over the last 15 years.

I hate NC State and hope they suck. Refuse to say anything positive about them. Will Wade is a scoundrel.

I like Wake's coach. It would be nice if the league came back to being known as a good basketball conference (with quad 1 games available) But it does seem like when Carolina has a down year, the entire conference is deemed to be "down" too. As Carolina goes, so goes the ACC in the eyes of the beholder.

Funny too that Will Wade is also a huge reason LSU fired their AD because the former AD knows he’s a scoundrel. Trouble for the former AD is the powers that be at LSU/Louisiana want a scoundrel.

The depressing thing is that I think he’s actually a decent coach. But if he does end up doing a good job at State he will probably just get picked up by another SEC team after a few season.
