I mean I know most folks here don't care or like them, but it's weirdly full circle for Carlos to watch his sons play their first home game, today - one playing in the arena he was named after. Also made me feel old being in there watching it.

Is that the first father-son combo at Duke? We had Kenny Smith’s son as a walk on just recently.
 
Wasn’t there an Urkel, Urkel Spanarkel? Ugly white dude sat at the end of the bench, never played but he dressed out for home games.

I don't know
But 20-25 years ago I went on many Travel Girls soccer weekends with among other folks Spanarkels Sister-we were both parents. Cool lady smart-MD at dook. She had two girls that eventually played soccer at dook. We would yuck it up occasionally about how Mike Okoren and her brother were HS AAU type buds

Gary and Lee Melchinoni.

UNC had had a number of walk-ons who were the sons of former UNC players. In addition to Kenny Smith’s son (KJ) we’ve recently had Bob McAdoo’s son (Ryan), Jeff Lebo’s son (Creighton), Pearce Landry’s son (Rob), and Hubert Davis’s son (Elijah).
 
I saw this score on Friday but it didn’t really sink in what kind of beat-down this game was:
