If State loses at noon on Wednesday in Charlotte to Pitt or Stanford, which would be their seventh loss in eight games (with the lone win carrying a massive asterisk), they shouldn’t make the NCAA tournament. Their best win over a team not missing its two best players would be against Clemson, hardly impressive; and they’d have multiple really bad losses to GT and ND who don’t even qualify for the conference tournament.

ESPN's Bubble Watch has had State as a lock for a few weeks now, but moved them back to "should be in" as of yesterday's game.

It would be quite a feat if State fell out of the tournament based on where they were after beating VT on 2/7.

I'm not sure they won't get in, but they've certainly made it interesting.

It helps them that every other bubble team is horrific this year.

Queens beat Central Arkansas 98-93 in OT to win the Atlantic Sun Championship and a bid to the Dance.
It turns out Elon didn’t just want the Queens endowment and that Myers Park campus for their law school, they are looking for some help with their basketball fortunes.

Goodbye, Earl...

I'm sure there are more, but is there another once-major college sports program that has become more completely irrelevant in the last fifteen or so years in college football and men's basketball than Boston College? I still remember watching with my dad Doug Flutie throw that Heisman-winning miracle TD pass against Miami, and they were respectable in football until about 15 or so years ago. And they were at least competitive in men's basketball until about 15 or so years ago. Now they are barely a blip on the college sports landscape, if that.

I remember back when you knew every single ACC coach and were familiar with every little mannerism and/or tendency they had. The only exceptions were when there was a brand new coach. But you got to know them fairly quickly as well. Now I don’t think I can name or picture about half of the ACC coaches.
Going off the top of my head, I can name the coaches if the following teams:
-UNC
-Duke
-State
-Wake (helpful that his name matches the name of a former president trial candidate)
-Clemson
-UVA (helpful that his dad was a longtime Wake Forest coach and that he gained fame for coaching the first 16-seed to knock off a 1-seed, which is the team he currently coaches)
-Pitt (helpful that I have had previous familiarity with Jeff Capel)
-GT (pre-firing) (helpful that I had previous familiarity with Damon Stoudamire)
-Notre Dame
-Syracuse (helpful that I and previous familiarity with Adrian Autry)

I can picture the VT coach and could penalty name him I. Most occasions, but my is blanking at the moment.

I can picture the SMU coach, but can’t name him.

Before reading about BC firing its coach, I wouldn’t be bake to name or procure him.

I can’t name or picture the coaches of:
-Cal
-Stanford
-Miami
-FSU

Am I missing any teams? That’s another issue.
