I would pore over Street&Smith's and Barry Jacob's The ACC Basketball Handbook. Read the Poop Sheet. I could come close to naming all the teams' entire rosters.
My FIL bought all that stuff
i got to read it
Fun

Going off the top of my head, I can name the coaches if the following teams:
-UNC
-Duke
-State
-Wake (helpful that his name matches the name of a former president trial candidate)
-Clemson
-UVA (helpful that his dad was a longtime Wake Forest coach and that he gained fame for coaching the first 16-seed to knock off a 1-seed, which is the team he currently coaches)
-Pitt (helpful that I have had previous familiarity with Jeff Capel)
-GT (pre-firing) (helpful that I had previous familiarity with Damon Stoudamire)
-Notre Dame
-Syracuse (helpful that I and previous familiarity with Adrian Autry)

I can picture the VT coach and could penalty name him I. Most occasions, but my is blanking at the moment.

I can picture the SMU coach, but can’t name him.

Before reading about BC firing its coach, I wouldn’t be bake to name or procure him.

I can’t name or picture the coaches of:
-Cal
-Stanford
-Miami
-FSU

Am I missing any teams? That’s another issue.
I could only name Carolina, Duke, State. Literally nobody else.

I always knew the Maryland teams. My first love in college basketball was Davidson in the 60s before Lefty Driesell left for Maryland.
TBH I always liked Lefty, although I don't think he was all that ethical in some respects and I certainly wouldn't have wanted him at UNC. I mainly liked him because he was a real character and had some pretty funny quotes back in the day. I still remember him getting mad and stomping around the court during games. The death of Len Bias brought about his downfall, and not without reason, although his death certainly wasn't Lefty's fault Bias was getting some pretty shady favors while at Maryland. The ACC in its glory days had some really entertaining characters as coaches, and Lefty was near the top of the list in that regard, if not in championships.

Herb Sendek is going to Providence!

Had he stayed at State he would likely have built a pretty consistent program there, and they would have far more wins than they've gotten since he left. They likely never would have been a power program under Herb, but they would have been consistently competitive and made the NCAA tourney most years. But he was too boring and bland for State fans and they wanted another Valvano entertainer-type coach who could beat UNC and dook more consistently, so they dumped him for...Sidney Lowe. Boy, did that work out swell for them!
