The days of players getting not-shit was the era ripe for players throwing a game.

Player #1: Fucking Coach gets millions and I get no spending money, a shitty single bed in a dorm room THAT I SHARE with another guy in a single bed…. I can throw THIS game myself. We’ll still win; so, that’s cool. We just won’t win by 12.

Players #2 and #3: We can’t make the team win or lose. We can rough up that dickhead star in practice enough so that we don’t cover the spread. Also, if it’s close to the spread, we’ll just turn it over or fire up stupid shots.

Perhaps.
I'm not saying the possibility wasn't there before to throw games, but the players now know all about the amounts being gambled AND they now know how much their teammates are getting (in NIL). Before, Player 'A' may not have any idea how much ca$h player 'B' was getting under the table. Now, it's ALL ON THE table, for all to see. IMHO the time is MORE ripe for throwing games than before. But that's just an opinion.

RE: Conference tournaments and last 10 games of season. Needs to be a major consideration for bubble teams going forward, if it's not already

Probably not a coincidence WVU struggled so much to end the year with a coach and players who already had a foot out the door

Give me the teams who are cohesive and playing well today. Not somebody who pulled off a lucky win 3 months ago

Those teams are a what make March Madness what it is. It would be a shame if the little guys weren’t included.
I don't care either way. I just think the whole argument about who deserves to be in is ridiculous if it's supposed to be about having the best 64 teams, but then you have the smaller schools that wouldn't be in if that was the case.

And best is relative. NET said UNC belonged so that should be good enough.

The NCAAT isn't about having the best teams in the tournament from top to bottom. The Selection Committee is tasked with selecting the "best" at-large teams, but there's no expectation that the AQ teams are the best in the nation, just the best in their conference.

I know.

So you just made an argument based in a knowingly false statement for funsies?
No, I know how the teams are selected. I just think its' ridiculous for people to say UNC doesn't belong in the tournament when they are still better than at least 20 or so smaller schools that get in just because they were good in their conference.

By that criteria, pretty much every P4 team and even mid-major would belong in the tournament because they're better than the 16-seed AQ schools.

Do you really want a 128 or 192 team tournament?

No, but the best 64 teams would be fine. I don't really care about the mid-major schools and smaller schools being in the tournament. I know the upsets are a big deal, but I think in the NIL era they are going to happen less and less. I actually would like to see the bigger schools, currently the Power 4, split from the NCAA in football and basketball and have their own league with everyone under the same umbrella and in geographical regions.

An NCAAT without the small schools sounds so much less fun.

Agree. I like it the way it is, with the nice combination of the AQs and the at large bids. The public loves the Cinderella stories during the first weekend.

No it’s not ridiculous. You’re the only one going around saying anything about the 64 or 68 best teams. The automatics and small schools belong and almost everyone across the country would agree it’s way more fun that way.

Good god do you know how to beat the living hell out of a dead horse. So many dead horses.
