The group of 5 teams in the playoffs is just pointless now. They have no shot at competing in the NIL era. The Power 4 should just go ahead and have their own football league. Let the group of 5 have their own league. And there are probably some teams in the group of 5 that should go down to th3 FCS division.

It has not. I do not think Miami will win a game in the playoff.
I’ve had more than a couple drinks today, so forgive me for bumping this post.

Strange game, but a win in the playoffs against a 1-loss SEC team—on their home turf in one of the most hostile environments in CFB—feels pretty good tonight.

Go Canes!

It’s a P2 and a P3 and a P4.

And, yes, I know Da U beat TAMU.

@wmheel1287 has a somewhat anti-homer bias against the ACC. The ACC is certainly a bad football conference, and Miami has had a long history of being over-ranked, but this particular Miami team has the lines and QB to compete at an elite level (even if they may not show it every game).

In reality, the P2 of SEC/B1G are well ahead of the bulk of the Big12 & ACC, as well, so there is a division there and then even among the G5 I think you can argue the American and P12/Mountain West are better than the remaining G5, so another division there. What eventually will almost certainly happen is the P2 plus a few Big12/ACC teams will break away (plus ND) will break away to form a new highest tier and the remaining P4 plus some G5 conferences will make another level and the remaining G5 teams/conferences will either make another level or return to FCS.

But until that happens, I'm good with the G5 having a guaranteed CFP spot and getting 2 in a crazy year where one of the other P4 doesn't live up to their status. I know that they're unlikely to be competitive, but I see them much like the conference champs in the NCAA tournament, the prize for those teams is simply being included and getting to play the game. And until there's a level of competition for them where they have a realistic shot at the national championship, I'm good with them being included in the way they currently are.

That system would be better if there were relegation/promotion. It would help to keep the haves from not trying (looking at you UNC and Kentucky) and would motivate the have nots to keep trying.
