I've tried googling to see the results of previous 5-7 teams in bowl games and the only result on the first couple of pages of the search show that Rutgers in 2015 lost its bowl to finish 5-8. Rice and Mississippi State have chances to join the group later this season.

Not sure why they went. All their best players already entered the portal. I guess it was a payday for the school. App State football was more fun when they were in the FCS division.
