Not one but two articles of impeachment have already been drafted against VP Harris, one has something to do with the border, the other is about her hiding the health and mental issues of Biden.

Focus on the important work of the House …

And ..... they go home until September 9.

It is an election year, so they do have to go home to campaign.

"...
Punchbowl News: “The day after President Joe Biden dropped his bid for reelection, House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik introduced a resolution sharply criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris over her and the administration’s handling of the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.”

“Remarkably, six House Democrats voted for the resolution today, an embarrassing result for Harris and House Democratic leaders.”

“Democratic Reps. Jared Golden (Maine), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), Yadira Caraveo (Colo.), Don Davis (N.C.), Henry Cuellar (Texas) and Mary Peltola (Alaska) all voted for a resolution ‘strongly condemning the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border.'” ...'

"The House Freedom Caucus is ramping up pressure on GOP leaders to back a short-term funding bill into early 2025 — seeking to punt major spending decisions into a potential Trump administration.

The ultra-conservative group’s official position, which requires the support of 80 percent of its roughly three-dozen members, is a preview of the spending fight Speaker Mike Johnson faces in September. Congress must clear a funding bill by Oct. 1 to avoid a government shutdown. ..."

Please GOP radicals, please force a government shutdown in October. Please do that. I beg of you, please. Stand strong for your intermittent concerns about the federal debt.

Definitely a good strategy for the Republican controlled House of Representatives to shut down the government to try to help the Republican presidential nominee win an election by appealing to the folks who would lose their paychecks for an indefinite period of time!

What's up with the 6 or so Dems going along with the crazy impeachment of Harris about the border?

Are they losing in the polls for re-election in their districts or in close battles?

The majority of reps have self-preservation as their #1 goal and duty. Power and those amazing lifetime benefits off the government teet are strong.

They signed on to a toothless condemnation of her border handling, not impeachment. Most are in tough districts for Dems, though Cuellar is a thorn in Dems sides on a lot of issues and is pissed that the DOJ indicted him for corruption this Spring. Cuellar is running for re-election and might have voted this way anyway, but the indictment of his wife and him probably assured he would.

Peltola is the surprise Democratic Rep from Alaska(!) and when she voted thus had a pending jungle primary against multiple GOP contestants. She surprised by winning over 50% support in that primary but will face a tough battle in November against the second-place finisher who is expected to consolidate GOP support.

Don Davis faces an uphill battle in redistricted NC in NC-01 (Eastern NC).

Thanks for the clarification on my mislabelel8ng as "impeachment" though I know the crazy Pubs are also trying that as they have in the past to deflect and minimize Trump's impeachment attempt and multiple court appearances. And to boost Trump in the polls.

But also thanks for validating my assumption, spineless politicians worried about their own re-elections and self-preservation.

Gov't shutdown and spending battles are always full of theatrics and battles for TV camera time. What are the chances another Pub Speaker (Johnson) gets bounced again, and another nightmare showing for dysfunctional Pubs?
