"The SBA’s 8(a) program has been widely considered a success in creating a platform for small women and minority owned businesses to have an opportunity to gain lucrative government contracts that had previously almost all gone to large businesses.

That's offensive. 😂

But like all government contracting opportunities, the 8(a) program has always been targeted by bad actors trying to manipulate or defraud their way to lucrative government contracts. There are definitely big contractors who complain they have to share a piece of their contract pie with these small businesses in order to qualify to apply for huge contracts by subcontracting with 8(a) businesses as part of their bid when they would prefer the efficiencies of subcontracting with whomever they choose.

This (fraud) seems to often be the problem when we try to manipulate the free market based on irrelevant characteristics. There are established companies that have proven themselves to be able to perform these services. Just use them. If there is an up and coming business, with years of private sector success that was organically brought into existence, give them a chance.

Many years ago, two former co-workers of mine, neither of which had a single minute of military service, started a technology resale company because the government was required to give 10% (if I recall correctly) of it's technology purchases to veteran owned small businesses. They found some former military guy to be the face of the company, but he did literally nothing. Had no part in decision making, day-to-day operations, etc.
just poorly worded. small businesses owned by women and minorities.

3rd largest brewery in the state according to google.

This is a very popular and successful brewery in Charlotte. He co-owns it with his wife. In addition to their main location, which is a very nice spot in South End, they have a location in Charlotte-Douglas airport. They sell a lot of cans in grocery stores, etc. and almost every bar in town that has beer on tap has at least one of their beers on tap. I can’t imagine what his wife is thinking right now.

I wonder how that works, legally-speaking. I mean, unless the family has a whole lot of money just lying around or they have an investor to purchase (guessing) half the company, he can't easily be bought out of his share of the business.

I guess he could legally forfeit his shares/ownership to his wife and she becomes full owner (or whatever percentage they owned together) of the company. Which is I'm guessing what they're doing.

If he's going away to prison for a long, long time and he wants the company to benefit his (soon-to-be-ex?) wife and kids, I guess there's little reason for him not to just sign it over.

He may as well pack his bags, Trump will not like that performance.
Not much of a "performance" really. From his quivering voice and his mannerisms, it was quite obvious to me that he didn't believe in a word he was saying. Just reciting the talking points he was given. Poor littlle sucker was just following MAGA orders with Gnome looking on, while at the same time destroying his own integrity. Jeez, the things these sheep will do for the Trump crime family.

If he broke into the home to rape her, what qualify it as statutory rape?
Looking at the charges and reading the warrants, my guess is that the burglary is based on him entering the home without consent of the adults who own the home. The girl very well may have let him in. Only entering without consent is required. You don't actually have to "break in."

That's how I read it. I suspect some considerable back story.

Ah. So she may have been engaged in a relationship with him. I hadn’t considered that angle given his age.
