He's such a nerd loser in real life that I sometimes get the impression that he saw the FBI Director gig as simply one of the only ways he could get laid. Wear flak jackets with his name on them and look tough and drive armor-plated BMWs and brag to the ladies that he has his own private jet which he can use to fly them to luxurious vacation spots and so forth and so on. It's like one of the Big Bang Theory side character nerds cosplaying an FBI Director to pick up chicks.

Virtually this whole administration is cosplay.

US Navy is going to party like it it's 1929.

President Trump on Monday announced plans to build a new fleet of Navy battleships, anchoring what he called the Pentagon's "Golden Fleet."

The president said he approved plans to begin constructing "two brand-new, very large, largest we've ever built, battleships." He later said he expects to build a total of 10 ships in short order, and ultimately 20 to 25. He made the announcement flanked by renderings of ships that were referred to as "Trump class."

Unless there is going to be a dramatic change in these ships’ armaments from the old ships this is a total waste of money and resources. The Missouri was used in the Persian Gulf War to launch cruise missiles from. A battleship can shoot a shell about 25 miles max. The Second World War proved the limits a battleship faces in a modern war. Battleships use to be how a navy measured its strength. Those days are long gone.

Yep. It wasn't battleships that won the Second World War in the Pacific Theater, it was aircraft carriers that really became the focus of the naval fleets on both sides and which did the most damage. Trump likely just thinks that battleships are so macho and awesome and would be a perfect reflection on himself as the ultimate alpha male macho president, so let's blow most of the navy's budget to build a lot more of them. It is stupid and absurd and vastly wasteful. He'll probably name the first one built the USS Donald J. Trump and name the entire line of new battleships the "Trump Class". Winning!

he already said they will be known as Trump Class ships

Such pathetic shit. For battleships the class name comes from the name of the first ship of that type.
Only thing I think is that it takes years for these things to get planned and approved and funded and built. i suspect the Navy is just waiting the term limit out and said "sure" to get trump to stop calling them. That could just be wishcasting though.

Mass Recall of U.S. Ambassadors Leaves Unprecedented Global Vacancies

Almost 30 envoys are being recalled, some from countries where President Trump has lauded U.S. efforts to end armed conflicts

“The Trump administration abruptly recalled nearly 30 career ambassadors at U.S. embassies around the world, according to multiple officials familiar with the matter, in a move that senior officials said is aimed at better aligning the State Department with the president’s foreign-policy agenda.

The State Department in recent days told the ambassadors they need to return to Washington, giving them until mid-January to vacate their posts. Before the directive, the U.S. already had around 80 vacant ambassador spots worldwide, a shortfall that diplomats said leaves a gap in American diplomatic capabilities.

The mass recall a year into the administration, coupled with the numerous top-level overseas posts already sitting empty, is without modern historic precedent, current and former veteran State Department officials said….”

New Class of Warship to Be Named After Trump

The new vessels, which the president calls battleships, will be latest in what the White House envisions as a ‘Golden Fleet’

“… The first ship in the Trump-class of battleships will be the USS Defiant. Construction would begin “almost immediately” and would take 2½ years, Trump said.

… The news follows the Navy’s announcement last week that it will commission a new class of frigates. Trump has for years advocated for revamping the U.S. fleet of warships, which he has said are “terrible-looking” and covered in rust.

In his first term, he called for a return to steam-powered catapults to launch jets from aircraft carriers—in a move that wasn’t successful—and complained about the aesthetics of the Navy’s destroyers. He has been personally involved in crafting plans for the Golden Fleet, The Wall Street Journal previously reported.

… The new battleship will be an upgrade to the Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, which are the workhorse of the current fleet and which Trump has compared unfavorably to rival navies, according to a U.S. official and another person familiar with the discussions. The “battleship” name harks back to the ships with large main guns used until the end of the Cold War, but the new vessels will feature a next-generation design.…”

Navy Old Heads……”President Trump……have you thought about building a battleship as big as the Gerald Ford Aircraft Carrier? But, bigger? Same keel. 100 feet longer?”
