I think it's only a break in the dam if they hold her. She's already been released and when the charges are dropped as they will be, then I'd chalk it up to a tantrum.

Multiple federal judges have recently opined that the government officials have been acting like small children. This is yet another example of that.

This is meant to be scary and to own the libs, but I think in effect it will be a nothing. I could be wrong. I very much doubt Hannah Dugan is going to be intimidated by this.

Misleading graphs with wide range data points with it ending at a spike when Trump was just elected. You fell for that?
 
I read the charging document. If the affidavit from the FBI special agent is accurate -- and I really don't see any reason why this person would perjure herself, especially since there were witnesses -- then the judge did act stupidly.

Not criminally -- at least not under the statutes cited, as her conduct was neither "corrupt" nor did she harbor or conceal anyone. But it was stupid. If the affidavit is to be believed, she led the defendant out of the court room through the jury door, and adjourned his proceeding accordingly. She shouldn't do that.

He said that the price of eggs has gone down 93% since he took office. It very clearly has not gone down 93% in that time frame. Your assertion that it's gone down at all is flatly incorrect - All indications are of a sharp and sustained rise in prices. This is an objective fact, not the subject of any debate, and widely available information.

He is lying. You are lying. Why should we give either of y'all a pass for this type of stupid lie that is so obviously disproven?

1. I agree nothing about this situation, including what the judge did, is ideal.
2. I certainly don't see any reason to charge her with a crime.
3. I have a MAJOR issue with ICE showing up in domestic violence court to arrest people on immigration charges. In this case, the person they were trying to arrest was a DV defendant. But what if the person had been a DV victim? Why in the world would we create disincentives for DV victims to show up for court hearings?

#3 makes perfect sense if you look at it through the rubric of them attempting to reduce the legal protections and societal participation of an already marginalized group.

The first laws against the Jews that the Nazis passed weren't for concentration camps. Their aim was to limit the ability of Jews to participate in civic society. The governmental processes of othering a group of people that you wish to disappear is pretty well established at this point and this is just one of the stops along the way.

Once you've isolated them legally and societally it's much easier to get on with the dirty work of the ultimate resolution.

They go to courthouses because a) people have appointments so they know when and where; and b) no guns allowed in the court house.
 
Very good points. It's winning for evil on several levels- individual and systemic (if you know they'll get you at a courthouse, you don't go to court, even when you should)
 
He also said that he has made trade deals with 200 countries already, which would be exceptionally impressive considering there are only 193 in existence.
