Pirro walks back threat to lawful gun owners traveling to D.C.

The attorney general for D.C. had issued a stark warning that even law-abiding gun owners could be jailed if they bring a firearm into the nation's capital.

Jeanine Ferris Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, on Tuesday appeared to walk back her threat that anyone who brings a firearm into the nation’s capital could face criminal penalties.

“Some people are concerned about something I said yesterday, so I want to be crystal clear. I am a proud supporter of the second amendment. I have guns myself, long guns, hand guns, and i’m a proud high heeled gun owner.,” Pirro said in a video posted on X.

On Monday, Pirro warned that lawful gun owners could face jail time if they bring a gun into D.C., even if the owner is legally permitted to carry the weapon elsewhere.

“You bring a gun into the district, you mark my words, you’re going to jail. I don’t care if you have a license in another district, and I don’t care if you’re a law-abiding gun owner somewhere else,” Pirro said during a Fox News interview on Monday. “You bring a gun into this district, count on going to jail and hope you get the gun back.”

Is Tulsi the newest member of the coverup worse than the crime (politically) club?

She had been operating in the shadows and apparently cut out of most key foreign policy decisions but then appeared at an FBI raid of Fulton County election records for the 2020 presidential election. An alleged domestic criminal matter is WELL outside her lane as DNI, but since she is apparently sidelined in her actual job (to the point of doing yoga in Hawaii over NYE while most of the rest of the security apparatus leaders were at MAL planning the Maduro extraction), she has to have something on her to do list to mollify Trump. So she’s turned domestic election spook.

None of which may have anything at all to do with this whistleblower complaint but it relates to an important coverup corollary: don’t do some sketchy public action guaranteed to enrage your adversaries while you are still actively pursuing the coverup.

One of the things that is so goddamned frustrating in all this is watching all the right wingers who have spent decades inventing conspiracies about how Democrats are spying on Americans, making lists of gun owners Red Dawn style, letting the UN set up secret bases, using FBI as jack-booted thugs, requiring a terrifying national ID, elitist pedophile rings, making a criminal database of political opponents and THEN the Trump Admin starts ACTUALLY doing some of that stuff (not the secret UN bases) and suddenly it is brilliant!

Except the 2A purists. They are good with everything except the mere suggestion of gun restrictions of any kind. A bright line for them.

Per an IG memo to members of Congress published by the AP, the whistleblower complaint alleged "(1) distribution of a highly classified intelligence report was restricted for political purposes; and (2) the responsible IC element's Office of General Counsel failed to report a potential crime to the Department of Justice, also for political purposes."
