“…President Donald Trump has renewed his calls for the U.S. Census Bureau to not count undocumented residents — a demand that remains legally tenuous. And last month, the administration announced changes to field testing, reducing the locations it will run test surveys and only offering those surveys in English.

Researchers told NOTUS these changes could cause large inconsistencies in how certain populations are measured come 2030 and ultimately skew how taxpayer dollars are doled out.

“Census data [is] so foundational, and we rely on those data not just in the first year or two after the census, but rather, for an entire decade,” Mark Mather, the associate vice president of U.S. programs at the Population Reference Bureau, told NOTUS. “There’s trillions of dollars allocated based on those, so we need a good count for all sorts of reasons, and this current plan did not look good to us.”…”

Gregg Phillips, appointed in December to lead FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery, rose to prominence not through his time as a federal emergency management professional but as a far-right activist who spread conspiracy theories about voter fraud and frequently used violent rhetoric toward political opponents.

Most notably, Phillips on multiple podcasts made bizarre claims to have been involuntarily teleported, including once to a Georgia Waffle House 50 miles away.

DHS, FEMA, and Mr. Phillips are focused on the critical mission of emergency management and ensuring the safety of the American people. Many of the comments cited are taken out of context or represent personal, informal, jovial, and somewhat spiritual discussions made in the context of barely surviving cancer; in a private capacity prior to his current role.”…”
 
It is so on-brand for MAGA to fantasize about being physically teleported, and of all places in the universe he could have gone, it was a Waffle House. Not his Waffle House. A different Waffle House.

As usual...where the hell is Congress? You worthless pile of bug frass, step up and protect yet another important duty of the Fed Gov . A duty expressly granted to Congress with no mention of allowing any dipstick president's interference. Of course, you'll likely do your usual which is yawn while Trump scrawls that pubic hair signature on yet another executive order.
 


His birthday is already Flag Day — I know this because it is also my mom’s birthday (though she is a year older).
