Not really a surprise, as Netanyahu is an authoritarian who has steadily transferred more and more power to himself and his political party over the years. He has been ruling as a de facto strongman of Israel for some time. Until the Gaza War there were actually growing protests against his constant seizures of more and more power within the government. One reason I suspect that he supported the attacks on Gaza and now this war is that it's at least temporarily halted much of the growing opposition to him within Israel. In his own way he's at least as much of a monster as Trump or Orban.

Not necessarily. But some things we've been told don't add up, and Russia has proposed this scenario to help Orban.

Fwiw, we always assumed the bullet came close because of the "blood " on the ear. If that was fake, then the bullet may never have been within a yard of him. That wouldn't take much training. Why the shooter would participate is certainly open for suspicion but it's not an outrageous idea. Well, no more than it being a real attempt.

The deficit and national debt are out of control.
Our government is building and has built concentration camps.
Masked SS are terrorizing our cities.
The press has been brought under the control of the oligarchs. The remaining free press is being attacked and threatened.
Massive corruption by those in government enriching themselves.
Democracy is being dismantled and authoritarians are emboldened.
We've stirred up a hornets nest of terrorism.

It will take decades to repair the damage, if ever.
