“… The statue is a replica of one that was tossed into Baltimore’s harbor in 2020 during Trump’s first term at a time of nationwide protests against institutional racism.

… “In this White House, Christopher Columbus is a hero, and President Trump will ensure he’s honored as such for generations to come,” the White House posted on X.

“We are delighted the statue has found a place where it can peacefully shine and be protected,” said John Pica, a Maryland lobbyist and president of the Italian American Organizations United, which owns the statue and agreed to loan it to the federal government for placement at or near the White House.…”

LOL Getting ICE agents off the streets and into jobs they might be qualified for, while getting us quicker to the flight over states like
Comer's, Gonna really drive us crazy.
Yeah, I look at it as rehab. It doesn't cost any extra and takes criminals off the streets. Can't wait to see the customer satisfaction surveys. I figure with the temperament of the average person with ICE, this ought to be about the same as being on a chain gang. I'll bet they don't win any friends.

My parents (big MAGA folks) are planning on taking the first big trip of their retirement next year, a river cruise in Europe. My mom was already nervous and looking up crime statistics in Switzerland (lol), wonder if they will cancel or, hopefully for my amusement, pretend to be Canadian the whole time.

Putting Georgia in a time zone for a half a year that is different from all of its neighboring states is a stupid idea. Basketball games will be starting at 10 PM local time.

At least Arizona has neighboring states on the same time year round.

If you are going to fix DST, it needs to be on a national basis, not a state by state basis.
Thing is, our time zones are extra wide. Based on longitude, there should be six time zones in the continental states but we have four because railroads. That is most of the problem.

We should split each time zone in half and increment by half-hours. Then we don't need DST and everything is fine. But absent that, we will always have the problem of states having to wake up in complete darkness or go to bed in broad daylight.
