I'm all for taking his (the filmmaker) statues down too!Hey now. Home Alone is a much beloved movie that my kids enjoy watching every holiday season.
Regarding FSU, it’s all about the $$.That's a lot of bullshit. While the specific words might be more or less problematic, the big problem is that it objectifies people. Devils, Bulls, Tigers, Lions . . . Indians.
By contrast, there are no teams nicknamed "whiteys" or anything of the sort (save possibly Celtics, whose origins I don't know). The names that apply to people are named after professions or roles, so to speak (e.g. Pirates, Deacons, Cavaliers) or have geographic relevance (as we all well know). But teams weren't named Indians or Redskins because they were local markers. They were named Indians because Indians sounded tough and scary. The whole idea is racist.
I don't know why the Seminole tribe has embraced its use. I'm sure they have good reasons. I don't know them, not really. But for the most part, native Americans do not like being sports mascots -- just like other Americans (hence the lack of "redneck" teams).
Redskins in particular would be like having a team named the slants with an Asian mascot.
How many Jim Crow statues were torn down from 1/20/17 through 1/20/21?Live by the sword die by the sword. Redskins name was changed during peak wokeness. Now Trump is leveraging the DC stadium to return the historical name.
Plus how many statutes were torn down during the last Administration? Names of schools and military based? Didn’t governmental officials have better things to do?
DC Swamp RatsThe D.C. Deplorables?
In 1965, the government tried replacing migrant workers with high-schoolers. It was a disaster.
The U.S. government didn’t renew a farmworker program that year, so the Labor Department recruited high school athletes.

Fighting Irish - with the drunken, red headed mascot? Mountaineers - guy with the coonskin cap? That's a lot of bullshit. While the specific words might be more or less problematic, the big problem is that it objectifies people. Devils, Bulls, Tigers, Lions . . . Indians.

“And it’s really not thinking, uhhh, it’s a little bit of a combination of thinking but it’s something you sort of have or you don’t have they don’t, the job he’s done is just terrible you ought to raise interest rates …”
