E.P.A. Is Said to Draft a Plan to End Its Ability to Fight Climate Change

According to two people familiar with the draft, it would eliminate the bedrock scientific finding that greenhouse-gas emissions threaten human life by dangerously warming the planet.

“… The proposed Environmental Protection Agency rule rescinds a 2009 declaration known as the “endangerment finding,” which scientifically established that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane endanger human lives.

That finding is the foundation of the federal government’s only tool to limit the climate pollution from vehicles, power plants and other industries that is dangerously heating the planet.

The E.P.A. proposal, which is expected to be made public within days, also calls for rescinding limits on tailpipe emissions that were designed to encourage automakers to build and sell more electric vehicles.

… The E.P.A. intends to argue that imposing climate regulations on automakers poses the real harm to human health because it would lead to higher prices and reduced consumer choice, according to the two people familiar with the administration’s plan.…”

The U.S. Justice Department has asked a federal judge to sentence a former Louisville police officer who was convicted last year of violating Breonna Taylor's civil rights to serve just one day in prison, despite the fact the conviction carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
In a court filing, the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division late on Wednesday downplayed the conviction of former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison, noting he "did not shoot Ms. Taylor and is not otherwise responsible for her death."
I haven't followed this particular portion (Hankinson) of the Breonna Taylor situation at all, but this seems odd.

Hankinson was part of a group of police returning fire, he didn't hit anyone, including Taylor, but he's convicted of a civil rights violation and going to prison for 3 years?

Ex-officer Brett Hankison sentenced to 33 months in prison in Breonna Taylor's death
The DOJ recommended Brett Hankison receive one day in prison, last week.

The former Louisville, Kentucky, police officer convicted of a civil rights offense in the death of Breonna Taylor was sentenced to 2 years and nine months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, on Monday in federal court.

Brett Hankison was found guilty of one count of violating Taylor's civil rights after he blindly shot into Taylor's apartment in March 2020. Hankison's bullets did not hit anyone.

Trump is escaping to the UK to avoid Epstein questions. He will visit Scotland to check on his resorts and golf courses .

Over 70% of folks in Scotland hate him so the visit will be interesting...

This is going to go over about as well as the one-day sentence. Judges are going to shoot this down in no time flat.

Question as to whether Supreme Court stays that judgment or actually hears the case. If they do, they will have to shoot it down given their own precedents from last year. Oh who am I kidding, but seriously the stay approach has been chosen because the Supremes don't want to create precedents that they or lower courts have to follow. It takes no time and they think they can run the country this way indefinitely.
