Sadly that was kind of the plot for idiocracy. Those smart enough to read the writing on the wall stopped having kids and were gradually replaced by the expanding gene pool of those who could not see it.

Idiocracy is one of my guilty movie pleasures. Unfortunately , over time it has become a documentary...

I know the birthrate has been declining for a good while for many reasons, but I can't imagine that many people looking around at America today feel good about the nation's future. Add in right-wing efforts to take away women's rights and the growing signs that we're moving towards an authoritarian state and that's not going to encourage most people to have kids.

But hey, the GOP is giving couples a little money off their taxes for every kid they have, so that'll surely do the trick!
