Modi’s cult of personality may become stressed by figuring out how to serve more than one master demanding public ring kissing.

Imagine you are a fisherman way out in North Korea, just minding your own business doing your every day fisherman shit and then the US FUCKING NAVY destroys your fishing boat and kills you and all your fishing buddies because you saw their little mini subs. And then there was no story - no justice - no "international incident" - nothing. You and your buddies are just dead. This story is outrageous and everyone should be screaming about it.
I mean, that sucks but hindsight is 20/20. They had no idea those guys were civilians until after they were dead. The alternative could have been hundreds of dead US sailors and potentially even tens of thousands of dead civilians on both sides had conflict erupted into outright war. This didn't seem like anything malicious, just SEALS thousands of miles from home having to make a split second decision in the dark of night with no communications. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

It isnt "them" who should be questioned. It is the folks that put them in that position in the first place.

“The official cause of death for Dan Rivera, a paranormal investigator who died while handling the allegedly haunted Annabelle doll during a tour in Pennsylvania earlier this year, has been revealed.

Adams Count coroner Francis Dutrow confirmed in a Thursday statement that Rivera in July died as a result of cardiac issues and his death was ruled natural, according to several outlets.

He added that the Annabelle doll, which has inspired several titles in “The Conjuring” film franchise, was not in the hotel room when Rivera died at age 54.

The New England Society for Psychic Research announced Rivera’s death July 14, days after Rivera and another member of his team were seenhauling the doll into the Gettysburg Orphanage for a then-upcoming event.…”

That is fair. I recently finished reading Sean Naylor's book on the history of the Joint Special Operations Command, and it was pretty eye-opening. One thing I'll say is that these types of missions happen far more frequently than people realize. We don't hear about them unless they go terribly wrong, and even then we may not hear about them.

What? They were North Korean fishermen in the waters around North Korea. What the fuck are you talking about? It was an illegal Navy Seal operation, an unauthorized encroachment on North Korea's sovereignty and the murder of innocent civilians. And there weren't hundreds of Seals and they killed the fishermen so the Seals could cover their tracks. How is this anything but malicious? What is wrong with you?

And while it is a bit creepy I say this-I don't want to know. I don't want to know CIA ops either
Of course the problem with not knowing is that the wrong president can do some pretty shitty stuff

“… Lindsey Langston, who is currently Miss United States and a Republican state committeewoman from Columbia County, is seeking a restraining order against Mills, who has denied any wrongdoing. She broke down several times while testifying and said she went to law enforcement this summer only after Mills refused her requests to leave her alone. The lawmaker is married to another woman and first started dating Langston in late 2021.

… But Circuit Court Judge Fred Koberlein did not rule on Langston’s request because the hearing went beyond the 90 minutes set aside for it.

… Mills did get a chance to begin his rebuttal before the hearing ended. During brief testimony, Mills asserted his phone had been damaged and he no longer had possession of any nude photos or sex videos that he said Langston sent to him. He contended his messages to Langston about videos were referring to clips she had posted online about falling in love with another man.

At one point, Mills said he still cares for Langston and her family, but he added, “I’m finished with this relationship.”

He has previously said the allegations against him are being orchestrated by a “political rival” who unsuccessfully ran against him in the 2022 Republican primary. …”

“…
Part of the hearing focused on exactly why and when the two stopped talking. Langston and Mills acknowledged they had broken up at one point in 2023 but had gotten back together. Mills testified that during their breakup, she had gotten involved with someone she had met at Mar-a-Lago.

Langston was also asked whether she had asked Mills for help with tax issues after the February incident. She testified she told Mills her family was having problems with the IRS and that he offered help.”

“… The victim, yet to be identified, was attacked about 100 m (328 ft) from shore while surfing with friends just after 10 a.m. at Long Reef Beach, in the north of the capital of the Australian state of New South Wales, police said.

… He was pulled from the water by other surfers, but had lost too much blood and died at the scene, said police superintendent John Duncan of Sydney's Northern Beaches unit.

… Two sections of a surfboard were retrieved and taken for examination, police added.…

… There have been three other fatal shark attacks in Australia in 2025, data from the state-run operator of Sydney's Taronga Zoo shows. In March, a surfer was killed by a shark in shallow water on a remote beach in Western Australia.“

As they lose the right to work, Ukrainians who were once welcomed to US fear they will have to leave

“… Natalia, Tatiania and their families came to the US under Uniting for Ukraine (U4U), a US government humanitarian parole program created under the Biden administration that allowed private US citizens to sponsor and help support Ukrainians who left because of the war.

The people who came to the US under that program were given two years of humanitarian parole.

Approximately 280,000 Ukrainians came to the US through the U4U program before it was suspended at the start of the Trump administration.

Those who arrived before August 16, 2023, were eligible to apply for temporary protected status (TPS) as well, which would extend protections beyond the two years. It is a costly process, and the application cannot be filed too early. Those who arrived after that date were unable to apply for TPS.…

And as authorizations and protections expire, many Ukrainians have not heard back from US authorities about their status, leaving them in limbo and unable to legally work…”

Flashback:

Bronze Stars, like those Hegseth earned, are common among military officers

Supporters point to his wartime decorations in declaring him qualified to lead the Defense Department. Military experts say that doing so distorts those medals’ significance.

“… The U.S. military issues two versions of the award: one with a “V” device denoting valor in combat, and the other for commendable job performance on deployments, or “meritorious service” in military parlance.

The Bronze Stars listed in Hegseth’s official records fall into the latter category, according to his official service records. Such awards were issued somewhat liberally throughout the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, experts say. Awardees of the meritorious service medal are predominantly military officers like Hegseth, data provided by the military shows. While many officers have risked their lives on the battlefield, the majority of fighting and exposure to danger is performed by the enlisted troops they command.

Hegseth also received a Combat Infantryman Badge, which is awarded when infantry soldiers and officers engage an enemy in combat.

… For many military officers who serve in war zones, Bronze Stars are akin to a pass or fail, said Jason Dempsey, a former Army officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is now a leader in civilian-military relations.

… Members of the enlisted corps have characterized the medal for meritorious service as a “participation trophy” for officers who do what is expected of them. Enlisted leaders, who can submit award recommendations for subordinates, have long complained about the difficulty of recognizing junior troops with awards. They point to the military’s officer-driven culture and a prevailing belief that rank-and-file personnel rate more limited recognition for their performance outside of extraordinary acts of selflessness.…”

And there weren't hundreds of Seals and they killed the fishermen so the Seals could cover their tracks. How is this anything but malicious? What is wrong with you?

Did you read the article? There was a nuclear submarine just offshore, along with another Navy vessel with Navy helicopters on it. If that mission goes wrong and the North Korean military is alerted, the sub, the seals, the choppers, and the second ship are all at risk. If any of those are taken out, then further escalation is likely inevitable leading to even more deaths.

Also, no one gives a damn about North Korea's sovereignty. They more than likely blew up a South Korean destroyer not long ago and killed hundreds of sailors. They are an evil regime and a threat to world peace. This mission was to place a surveillance device, which is a fairly benign and non confrontational mission. They took every chance to make sure that they didn't encroach on civilians. As I said earlier, they didn't know that the 2-3 people that were directly next to the mini-subs (including one person who jumped into the water) were civilians until after they were dead. They made a split-second decision, as they are trained to do. Finally, if you don't think that every single first-world country is pulling off covert ops on the soil of their enemies and even their allies then you are mistaken. That's the name of the game. Everyone does it. The rule is don't get caught. People love watching James Bond and Mission Impossible movies....they shouldn't be surprised that some of that stuff actually happens in real life.

“Connor Walcutt is in a holding pattern that borders on the surreal.

Peering out from a 262-foot ship he currently calls home, the 26-year-old has been looking across the water off the coast of Rhode Island and onto one of America’s largest construction sites, wondering if he will ever be allowed to finish the job.

… A small army of workers and suppliers on the East Coast and elsewhere are now racked by the possibility that a new industry for which they spent years preparing could soon disappear.

On the water but unable to work, Walcutt said about 20 specialists standing by on the vessel do their best to avoid the subject.

… Twelve-hour shifts seven days a week have given way to restlessness on the ECO Edison. The first U.S.-made ship of its kind, the vessel was christened last year at a New Orleans event attended by U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R., La.).

The 65-turbine Revolution Wind is set to provide enough power for 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut starting next year at less than 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, well below the region’s current market rate for electricity. It has become the focal point of this fight because developers say it is 80% complete.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on Aug. 22 ordered the companies to stop work while officials “address concerns related to the protection of national security interests.”

In a television interview days later, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum cited potential interference with the radar technology needed to detect a “swarm drone attack,” a threat security analysts say is overblown. …”
