"Racism saves lives."

Ramrouser - there are no "what abouts" that statement. No matter how horrific this particular act was. And it was a horrific act, but no matter how horrific the act was, if you support the statement above than yeah, you are a racist.

Point blank.

Now, you may will be fully comfortable with the tag, and you may not feel that at all, but this is one of those moments where you get to decide, at least for you, where the chips are going to fall.

At a national level, going down that path will lead to a great deal of blood. We are on the precipice. "By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes."

As I said, we are at a critical junction in society. We have been focusing here, primarily on the legal impact of Trump's president, but the winds are shifting - have been shifting for quite some time - but are now shifting towards some extremely powerful and terrifying rhetoric. The onus is on each of us - not just ramrouser, to really think about the effect of the statements in NYCfan's post above.

I wasn't endorsing the statement you quoted. I don't support the statement that Racism saves lives. I was merely quoting what the killer said on the train after he butchered the girl. Go view the entire video. What saddens me is that no one of the train did ONE THING to assist her or to help her in any way. I expected more from southerners. Wish there had been a Marine on the train.

It was only 61 years ago that the US passed the Civil Rights Act and, even with that legislation, it's not like there weren't a whole lot of folks who never agreed with it and who never actually accepted it within their worldview even if they had to recognize it as law. That's especially true in the rural and exurban areas where MAGA is most prevalent. For a lot of folks, they've long held these views and the world seemingly moved on from them, only now they've created an opportunity to push back on a grand scale against inclusivity and acceptance.

What in the world are you talking about? The video clearly shows multiple people coming to her aid when they realized what was happening.

Sort of off topic, and I’m not agreeing that southerners are likely to be more helpful than non-southernors, but if you find yourself among a group of people in most parts of Charlotte, it’s more likely that most of the are not southerners than it is that they are.
 
There was a video from another place in NC a few years back. Pregnant white woman stopped at a gas station in a rough area. Was robbed by some black teenagers. When she refused to give up her car keys, they shot her 6 times. She survived, but her baby didn’t. Anyways, in that video no one helped her either.
 
Didn't see that in the videos I've viewed. I saw everyone pretty much ignoring the situation. The guy behind her (who was sitting across the aisle of the killer) simply gets up, glances at her, and walks past her immediately after she was attacked. The lady in red beside her simply turns away from her. I'll take your word that some people later came to her aid because watching the videos is starting to wear on me.
