He was clearly laughing, and she is clearly spinning.

"He wasn't serious" for some, "religion is not something to be mocked," for others.

Appeals court blocks Oak Flat land swap, giving copper mine opponents a late reprieve

“… A coalition of environmentalists, tribes and the San Carlos Apache Tribe asked the appeals court for the temporary injunction after a district judge declined to halt the exchange until the case had been heard.

… Even as the date for the land swap neared, questions continued to arise. The State Land Department sent a letter to the Forest Service on Aug. 4 objecting to the mine based on concerns about groundwater consumption and subsidence. The agency said it was particularly worried about the proposed Superstition Vistas development in the far southeastern valley, east of Queen Creek and southwest of U.S. Highway 60.

… Still other issues remain, including claims by some experts that the mine won't be viable, questions about where the copper will be processed and how much U.S. manufacturers will have to pay to get it back from overseas processors…”

To me, this is really the secret sauce/genius/insidiousness of right-wing media. They've quite successfully sold the application of a double-standard as both a patriotic and a moral position.
I think you've correctly identified the phenomenon, but mislabeled it.

It's more that right-wing propaganda networks has dramatically increased the dogmatism within conservatism/the Republican Party. (It's a part of the merging of fundamentalist Christianity and the Republican Party, Republicans have become much more dogmatic in their approach to politics.) This increase in dogmatism manifests in both the cult-like nature of the Republican Party and the strident views they espouse.

To be fair, i believe that dogmatism has increased in the Democratic Party, as well, although I think it pales in comparison to what has happened on the right.

Viewing it as a "double-standard" is really a liberal perspective on the matter. Liberals see two groups acting similarly and see a double-standard when one of the groups expresses that the other shouldn't behave that way. Conservatives, on the other hand, see their activities as acceptable and the LGBTQ+ communities similar actions as unacceptable because they believe that it is unacceptable to be (or support those who are) LGBTQ+.

“… The list included Shelby Pierson, the former election threat official in the first Trump administration who warned Congress about Russian meddling in the 2020 election and is now a senior official at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which analyzes spy satellite imagery.

Also on the list were a senior C.I.A. analyst currently serving undercover and Vinh X. Nguyen, a senior National Security Agency data scientist.

Rescinding security clearances appears to be part of a campaign by Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, to draw attention to what she sees as flaws in intelligence assessments about Russian malign influence operations during the 2016 election. Ms. Gabbard’s attention to that issue has won praise from Mr. Trump.…”

Trump budget officials claim sweeping spending power from Congress, records show

Russell Vought, the White House budget director and architect of Project 2025, would have vast authority to approve or block billions in federal spending, the records show.

“… The agency’s newly released documents, made public under the court order, show Trump’s budget office is imposing litmus tests on releasing money — demanding plans from agencies to show they are following guidance Trump has laid out in executive actions, such as avoiding spending on diversity programs. While Trump has authority to issue those directives, experts say they do not, under law, carry the same weight as congressional actions.

The documents show OMB has in some cases blocked the release of funding until agencies provide a White House-approved spending plan and in other cases prevented funds from being spent that conflict with Trump’s executive orders.
The restrictions effectively give Vought, the director of the White House budget office and an architect of the controversial conservative governing plan Project 2025, the power to approve or deny virtually all spending decisions.

The records do not provide a full accounting of government funding that has been withheld.…”
