It was the most catastrophic Secret Service failure that I can recall. If not for a poor shot, a very high value protectee would have been killed.

I’d understand if Trump was angry. I don’t understand how the head of his security detail that day became his appointment for Director of the Secret Service.

Almost as if there might be something fishy about an assassination attempt that had a bullet graze his ear with no lasting scar, and resulted in Trump engaging in performance art in the immediate aftermath.

I'm more amazed that he hasn't simply removed his name from the list and then released it. It's not like anyone whom his base would believe would actually tattle on him and the folks who would raise the issue wouldn't be believed. Then he'd get credit with his base for releasing the list and his presence on the list would just become another point of contention that his base would blame on the Deep State for being out to get him.

The billionaire also ran a financial firm, which he recently left in the control of his adult sons, that stands to benefit if President Donald Trump’s administration follows through on a decade-long Republican effort to privatize government weather forecasting.

I don’t actually begrudge a billionaire this particular toy but I do recall outraged MAGA became that Nancy Pelosi had a Sub-Zero freezer and expensive ice cream. I mean compare that to Mar-a-Lago and Trump’s fixation on adding gold leaf to the White House.

This has been the case since trump’s first term. The head of accuweather had a spot in his administration.

Every single private weather outfit uses government data that’s available for free. The only real difference between their forecasts and government forecasts is the modeling methods. It can depend on the day which is more accurate. These assholes want to continue using the government data we all pay for, but then charge us again to get our weather information.

I was really worried about what might happen to how we get weather information in a second trump administration. They didn’t realize their goals previously. Weather data collection, alerts, and weather research funding has for decades been one of those amazing government programs that just worked in the background with little changing between administrations. Besides giving more power to companies to gouge consumers they’ve cut off funding to places like the University of Oklahoma that do so much important weather research. Once again maga continues to make things worse so that a select few people that already have too much can have even more.

Maga is a cancer.
