CURRENT EVENTS - May 1 - May 6

They’ve been laying the groundwork for a christonationalist reforming of the entire federal system, for years. This is a new phase. The passive and active incursions, but not full assault, on the constitution and due process are meant to soften the pushback from educated maga and limp wristed “centrists” (the “accounts up!” and mundane concern troll types). Trump doing his opaque (but transparent) signaling of intention to scrap the constitution is tactical.

Would any of our board Trumpers and bosiders like to come here and defend any of this? He "doesn't know" if has to uphold the Constitution (he literally swore an oath to do just that at his inaugural). Basically saying flat-out that kids (and by implication their parents) need to make do with less in this brave new economy that he's building? And saying this gem: "We were losing hundreds of billions of dollars with China. Now we're essentially not doing business with China. Therefore, we're saving hundreds of billions of dollars. It's very simple." That statement is so inaccurate (and stupid) in so many ways.

Given that all we've heard from his defenders (and many "bosiders") is that he really knows what he's doing and his tariffs are just a negotiating tactic, do you think a man who really believes that by cutting off trade with China we're actually "saving hundreds of billions of dollars" does know what he's doing? Bueller? Anyone?

The galaxy brained “Less is More, and Less is More Expensive” piece.

Something tells me you aren't going to get much of a cogent argument from this fella...

Yet Trump fired Waltz for his security leak and you are posting "X" feeds laughing about it too. Isn't that kinda the same thing?
You are ok with the White House firing the lady yet laughing because Trump fired Waltz.
Hummmm...

maga: “stop wasting my hard earned tax dollars !”

Trump: “So what if I go golfing in Florida and Jersey every single weekend? Did I tell you about the tens, maybe hundreds, of millions we’re going to spend on a dictator kabuki parade and Trump presidential ballroom?”

maga: “suck it libtards! Triggered soy cucks! Trump is owning you stupid-heads!!!!”

Trump signed an EO directing the DOJ to investigate two specific Americans but now claims he didn’t tell anyone to go after those men, they must have heard that somewhere else.

Hell, a major factor is that we focus on prohibition and criminalization instead of education and mitigation. How much less damage would drugs cause if the ones used were purified, properly identified and in controlled amounts? Add the ability to seek help without opening yourself to criminal charges. We. could hardly have a more counterintuitive approach.
Imagine how efficient it would be just to distribute fentanyl detection strips to anyone who wanted them instead of wrecking our economy by putting foolish tariffs on our neighbors.

In Madison Wis in the 70's you could go to Town hall and get your pot tested for paraquat-after it was reported Mexico/USA was spraying the pot fields with it

I don't know anything about those strips. Do they work only for IV drugs or can they detect fentanyl in pills?

You are right -- those things should be in more plentiful supply. That said, the average heroin junkie is probably unlikely to test their smack. Not that I know any junkies. It just seems to me that if you're jonesing, and you've got a score, and then the strip says there's fentanyl in it -- I mean, addicts wouldn't be addicts if they were able to toss the score because it's unhealthy for them.

My wife had a patient who was seeking medication assisted therapy. He had three friends die from fentanyl ODs in pills. Was he still taking the pills? Yes he was, because he couldn't resist. If there was fentanyl, well he had a good run. Now, he did seek the therapy to try to get off the smack, so he wasn't doing nothing, but he didn't seem to think he could resist even if he knew there was a reasonable chance the pill would be fatal.
