CURRENT EVENTS - May 1 - May 7

So this guy took an oath to " solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Is Trump's fallback going to be, " I said I would protect and defend the Constitution to the best of my ability, and I did to the best of my ability... and don't compare my ability to Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Ford, Carter..."

Alcatraz was one of the best things we did during out trip to California. We absolutely loved visiting. BOOOOO to cutting that out

I read that Alcatraz draws approx. 60 million annually as a tourist attraction but that it would cost 13 million annually to operate, not counting the millions that it would take to convert back to a prison. He's totally deranged.

No clue how many they’d imprison at an Alcatraz Super Max……in 2019, it was estimated that it cost $78,000 per inmate for the 375 inmates at the Florence Super Max; Florence Super Max cost $60 million to build when it opened in 1994.

Alcatraz Super Max would cost multiples of $60 million to build.

It won’t get built (cheaper to build one in a freaking desert).

The U.S. has built a secret underground “city” costing $21 trillion where the ultra-wealthy can hide out druing a “near-extinction event,” a former government official has claimed.

Catherine Austin Fitts, who served as the assistant secretary of Housing and Urban Development under president George H.W. Bush, made the shocking allegation on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s podcast, according to Realtor.com.

A stunning $21 trillion in “unauthorized spending” occurred in the department between 1998-2015, according to a 2017 report released by Michigan State University economist Mark Skidmore.

Skidmore’s report had been prompted by Fitts referring “to a report which indicated the Army had $6.5 trillion in unsupported adjustments, or spending, in fiscal 2015.”

“Given the Army’s $122 billion budget, that meant unsupported adjustments were 54 times spending authorized by Congress. Typically, such adjustments in public budgets are only a small fraction of authorized spending,” the report noted.

While on “The Tucker Carlson Show,” Fitts said she spent years investigating where the $21 trillion had gone – and discovered there were 170 secret underground bases across the U.S.

Merz fails to be elected German chancellor in first parliamentary vote

This failure is unprecedented in Germany’s postwar history.
He gets to run one more time if his coalition can sort it out but since this hasn’t happened in the modern era, a bit of a mystery how things I’ll proceed. Since it is a secret vote, it isn’t clear where he lost support … maybe a smaller group angling for more power in the coalition?

“… The VA has cut just a few thousand staffers this year. But the administration has said it plans to eliminate at least 70,000 through layoffs and voluntary buyouts within the coming months. The agency, which is the largest integrated health care system in the U.S., currentlyhas nearly 500,000 employees, most of whom work in one of the VA’s 170 hospitals and nearly 1,200 clinics.

Despite an expanded role mandated by Congress through the PACT Act, administration officials have said their goal is to trim the agency to the size it was before the legislation passed. …”
