No problem with her family receiving that settlement. A Capitol police officer shot her (unarmed) at point blank range. As a comparison, Minneapolis paid the George Floyd family 27 million.
"Despite multiple warnings not to proceed, Babbitt attempted to climb through a shattered window beside a barricaded door into the Speaker's Lobby and was thwarted when she was shot in the shoulder."

I would have shot her too. The cop did the right thing.

she was part of a dangerous, violent mob that was responsible for the deaths of multiple LEO's. she repeatedly disregarded orders from officers.

A gift link to this article was already posted by @Bobfripp in the China catch-all thread, but thought I would share here as well:

I'm not saying the officer should have been criminally prosecuted. The Justice Department determined that the officer's actions were reasonable given the circumstances to avoid a criminal prosecution. But in the civil lawsuit, it was alleged that he:

*failed to de-escalate the situation
*did not give Babbitt any warnings before opening fire.

She was an unarmed Air Force veteran.

The lawsuit claimed the Capitol Police was negligent, claiming they should have known this particular officer was prone to behaving in such a dangerous or incompetent manner given his past record.

In conclusion, I have no issue with the DOJ entering into a civil settlement with her Estate.

No jury in the country would have given her estate one red cent.

Whatever happened to opposing waste, fraud, and abuse?

A Capitol police officer protecting our elected officials from violent assault fired in self-defense after issuing repeated warnings to her not to climb through the fucking window. The man did his job and she fucked around and found out. Family shouldn't be getting a single cent.

As Super indicated- that was bait and everyone is biting. Don’t feed the troll

Ok fine. But I do wish there were some of whatever’s left of good faith conservatives that aren’t Kamala voters on this board.
I think the MAD magaizine folks have polarized folks -and traditional conservatives don't want to get in the mix???
