She is not up to this sort of hearing.

If she believes that all viewpoints should be taught then why is she part of Trump 2.0's charge to force universities to teach only what they tell them to? And of course that's bullshit anyway. It's simply appalling that in the year 2025 we have a former professional wrestling CEO running the Department of Education while trying to literally shut down her own department and lecturing colleges and public school systems on topics that she literally knows nothing about.

You're not very bright, are you?

Under Obama or Biden this would never be an issue.
I'm amazed at the logic of some.

They believe it's ok if hypothetically they can claim that people who vote for the other party would support it if the roles were reversed.

Such a load of shit. We would not super it from our party just as we don't support it from the Republican Party, because it is wrong. No matter who does it.

Your glee at this atrocity is noted.

Enjoy your brief time here.
I will say that this dude is persistent as hell, I'll give him that. This is easily the fifth or sixth poster name he's used here in just a few weeks. And his posting style never changes - always angry, in-your-face, foam-at-the-mouth bile at anybody who isn't a full-blown member of MAGA Nation. I'm sure he will return yet again within a few days, fulminating against board liberals he obviously hates so much. Kind of pitiful, really.

Shocked am I that two narcissistic sociopaths couldn’t get along.
I thought from the beginning that they would eventually have a serious falling out for that very reason. Although Trump isn't smart enough to do it, I also wondered if some in Trump 2.0 saw Elon as a useful tool to make the Project 2025 cuts they wanted and he could take all the heat and was thus expendable. Unfortunately their falling out isn't going to help matters much, as Elon actually wants even more drastic cuts to the budget than Trump or Congressional Republicans (hard as that is to believe) and so he may be even worse, if that's possible, than Dear Leader. It's not like he's going to become a useful ally (or even just a Trump enemy) for Democrats - if Elon's plans are enacted they'll make things even worse for average Americans than Trump probably will, as incredible as that sounds.

Oh, the irony...

For general reference (and not as a critique on posting this here), there is also a related dedicated Biden thread

In any event, it appears that Trump may be scrambling to try to change the subject from Elon’s scorched earth broadsides against the GOP budget bill and maybe issues with trade policy and foreign policy — I think Trump intended to pursue this regardless, but the timing of this and his travel ban seem like a hey, look over here distraction …

Trump Bans Citizens of 12 Countries From Traveling to U.S.

Ban includes Haiti, Afghanistan and Iran, while travel restrictions are placed on additional list of countries

“… The ban will completely bar travel to the U.S. by citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

Citizens from an additional list of countries will be barred from permanently immigrating to the U.S., along with applying for tourist or student visas. Those countries are Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. Citizens from these seven countries will still be eligible for other temporary visas, such as the H-1B temporary work visa….”

Trump Is Losing Patience With Musk’s Outbursts Over Megabill

Billionaire’s attacks on Trump’s tax bill are fraying his ties with the president

Gift 🎁 —> https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy...b?st=2EV2Ho&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

“… A senior White House official said Trump wasn’t happy about Musk’s decision to lambaste his signature legislation, describing the president as confused as to why the Tesla chief executive decided to ratchet up his criticism after working so closely with the president for four months. The official said senior Trump advisers were caught off guard by Musk’s latest offensive.

The uneasy alliance between the two men was also strained by a recent move by the White House to nix Trump’s nominee to run NASA, Jared Isaacman, according to people familiar with the matter. Musk, a close ally of Isaacman, had advocated for him to get the job.

The decision infuriated Musk, who complained to associates over the weekend that he had donated hundreds of millions of dollars to help get Trump elected in last year’s campaign, only to see Isaacman’s nomination pulled, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said. Musk’s frustration over the NASA episode made him more willing to aggressively criticize the tax bill, people close to him said. Musk didn’t respond to a request for comment….

Asked whether Trump and Musk continue to have a strong relationship, a White House official said it was too soon to tell. The official said that Trump could be forgiving, but that he doesn’t forget slights like this.

Even before the billionaire’s ramped-up attacks on the tax bill, some Trump allies worried that Musk would feel more free to criticize the administration after he left the White House. Some administration officials encouraged lawmakers on Capitol Hill to post positive social-media posts thanking Musk for his service out of hope such praise could avoid future confrontations, according to people familiar with the effort.

Musk has long harbored frustrations with the tax bill, raising concerns about provisions in the legislation that repeal tax credits for electric vehicles, people close to him said. Musk’s car company, Tesla, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electric vehicles. He is also the founder of SpaceX, which has government contracts with NASA. Isaacman has ties to SpaceX, including flying on the company’s first private flight to orbit.

White House officials privately dismissed Musk’s criticisms, arguing that he was focused on his business interests rather than the public interest.…”

Did anyone else do as I did, and go down the list checking to see if Serbia and Montenegro were on it?

Biden’s I.R.S. Doubled Audits on the Wealthy, Data Shows

At the same time, the audit rate for those making under $500,000 declined slightly in 2024, fulfilling a promise by the Biden administration.

“… Republican lawmakers warned that more money for the I.R.S. would lead to more audits across the board, and that middle-class taxpayers would be targeted.

But new data released by the I.R.S. last week suggests that the agency upheld Mr. Biden’s promise in 2024. With an audit rate of 0.8 percent, people making over $500,000 on their latest return were more than twice as likely to be audited compared with the same point in the audit cycle in previous years.…”

Xi and Trump Hold Talks, China Says

Chinese state media said the leaders spoke on Thursday, amid worsening tensions between Washington and Beijing.

“… The call was reported by Chinese state media in a brief dispatch late Thursday that did not immediately include details. Mr. Trump and Mr. Xi were last known to have spoken to each other on Jan. 17, days before Mr. Trump was inaugurated as president….”

File under only the best people

“… Thomas Fugate, who graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio just 12 months ago, is currently heading up the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships at the DHS, as first reported by ProPublica Tuesday.

… Fugate was reportedly hired as a “special assistant” in an immigration office at the DHS in February, according to ProPublica. He then took over CP3 after its previous director quit.

… A DHS agency official told ProPublica Fugate was “temporarily” offered a CP3 leadership role for his “work ethic and success.”…”
